Re: iPad plus Paper Sectional Charts

As a point of interest, I have every chart ever bought since soloing my second time in 1967. They were 50 cents, but a lot of FBO's would just give them to you. The charts back then were printed with the navigation chart on one side and enough information on the back side that if you studied it, you...

Another reason for the Bartone type exhaust. :D

Was a light array fixed on the bottom of the fuselage parallel with the wings. It displayed moving messages.

Re: A piece of history

Today having a massive clean out in my office I found a 170 association fly paper dated December 2001 . That’s nearly 17 years ago. It was a interesting read and looking to see if any I knew anybody. Miles was president ,Velvet was the editor and the historian was seeking photos . History is certai...

Re: Secondary Seat Stop SEB07-5 rev 6

Had mine done 4-5 years ago by Eagle Aviation in Columbia, SC. They sent me an e-mail when parts came in. Flew over, took them about three hours and I was on my way. Did a great job, no out of pocket. Works good, don't even know it's there.

Re: New 170B owner

Hey thanks to all! The wing leveler explains the cable exits. It was removed years ago but I am sure that is why they are there. Thank you for that. I will put the Scott on my shopping list. Ouch! This site is going to be a great asset for us as we learn our new bird. This response is fantastic. I ...

Re: Electrical Issue

Frank, do you have the old manual pull type starter ? If so, you may want to check the contacts on that starter switch. May have a burnt switch causing high resistance..... Just a thought. :?

[quote="n2582d"]Ed, I was mistakenly under the impression that experimental aircraft builders didn't have to comply with airworthiness directives. Aparrently there are isolated AD’s that apply to experimental aircraft. I found this in AC39-7D : 8471E133-CA9E-4108-9263-1FB1C2C8A2A6.jpeg Hav...

Re: Too unbelieveable to be true...

These engine mods have been bouncing around the Association for years. To my knowledge there is no legal way to do any of these mods to your certified aircraft except through a one time field approval and.... Good luck with that !! Or, go Experimental. :D

Re: Landing/Taxi light switch

These little pull-switches are nothing more than a metal can with bent-over tabs that can be opened up and cleaned. There's a sliding phenolic plate with contacts on it that make the connections with the terminals. I've successfully repaired them by cleaning and lubricating with electric-contact gr...

Re: caliper location

My 170A has the brake calipers located to the rear of the gear leg, but I recently saw a picture of a 170B that has them on the front of the gear leg. Surely that wasn't changed between models. Which is correct? Rear of the gear leg was the standard location on all 170's. They would work the other ...

I'm looking for some exhaust gaskets for my O-300. I know I want Blo-Proof type, but am unsure what brand would be best. On the net I see three brands. Airborne Blo-Proof @ $2.97 ea; Superior (doesn't show to be blo-proof) @ $6.36 ea and Blo-Proof brand at $10.50 ea. Seeking recommendations. Also l...
