Re: The highest numbered hour 170
ghostflyer, during the convention in Fairbanks 1988 Bud Helmricks, who was the featured speaker, had a 1952 model he bought new and flew it from Wichita to Fairbanks that year. If I remember right, he had at that time over 20K on that plane and had 16 engines. You would have to find out from someone...

Re: Control Yoke Bushing
Falco, would they make you a better deal on a bunch of delrin. That may be the way to go as long as they are fairly easy to drill. At $19.00 be very well worth it to try they have to be better than the original. They will not wear out in our lifetime! Ron

Bakerlite which is a phenolic ball is 9-10 bucks ( somebody had those here and knew the cost). Did not have the Teflon but gave me the name of the place where they get them. so I will keep wo...

Re: Control Yoke Bushing
guys, we use Teflon and bakerlite balls by the hundreds in the oil field to pressure up tubing and set packers. (I know not many knows what that means) however I can check with a packer co and see what I can get 1 1/2 "Teflon or bakerlite balls for and all anyone would have to do is drill a 3/4...

Airbus A-380 First Landing at SFO
Interesting !!!! little more equipment than our 170's   Airbus A-380 First Landing at SFO... The Airbus A380 is a double-deck, wide-body, four-engine jet airliner. It is the world's largest passenger airliner; many airports have upgraded their facilities to accommodate it because of its si...

Re: Looking for an oil sump O-300
That's pretty much a consensus that casting is not the way to go--and then Miles our assn. engr throws another problem out there.    Now if we used the pan as a mold and then cast a new block and accessory cast and they all shrunk 6-7% we'd be in good shape --right Miles nothing...

Re: Looking for an oil sump O-300
If you know of a place/shop that can do this get a quote. Like I said I have no knowledge of how this would be done. Someone out there does and knows the process as well as the casting/mold procedure. The feds said that would be much easier to approve. To answer another question you asked-- yes ther...

Re: Looking for an oil sump O-300
Well that was on question the feds asked-- how about casting a new one. Would be a lot easier to approve. I don't have any knowledge of casting etc. I know enough about coating that would be suffient to baffle the BS them (along with the suppliers). I am not sure if some were not made of aluminum?? ...

Re: Looking for an oil sump O-300
FYI. guys I talked with the feds about teflon coating the oil pans and they want me to talk to a propulsion DER about the process. Talked with coating co who talked with his supplier. They are doing this on race car engines for various reasons and have been doing this awhile without any problems of ...

Re: Looking for an oil sump O-300
I wonder if Teflon coating would work. We use it in the oil field to protect from salt water bound to keep the bottom of the sump healthy, with only condensate and oil. Only have to heat it to around 300 degrees to cure the Teflon. A light blasting to rough it up. sand or aluminum abrasive? probably...
