Re: C170 wheel and brake change

What part of the brake is contacting the gear leg? Is it the brake caliper, or the disk? In any event I would think that measuring the component parts, left and right, should lead you to the dimension that is different. There are several different types of axles that can be used on Cessna gear legs....

Re: Removing Doyn conversion

My 52 B model has had the Doyn O-340 conversion since it was done in 1957 by Cordova Airlines, who owned the plane originally. Works good, lasts long time, as they say. If you do decide to restore your airplane to its original engine configuration, or some other installation, please let me know. I m...

Re: October Trip to Alaska

The flight up the highway can be a very nice trip. However, if you have any flexibility in the timing of the flight, you may want to consider a little earlier in the Fall. Say, mid September or earlier if you can arrange it. Longer daylight hours for sure and likely better weather. And not likely to...

Re: Yoke vs Stick

Actually there was a Champ with a control yoke in the front. Sometime in the 1950's probably and built by Champion, not Aeronca. Champion made lots of variants on the basic 7AC airframe. A nose wheel version, of course. One with the tailwheel amidships, about under the baggage compartment as I remem...

Re: Air bubble of doom in gascolator!

Is it possible that the gascolator is mounted / hooked up backwards? There is an "In" port, and an "Out" port. I have heard of cases with symptoms like yours which resulted from just such a reversal.

Re: Replacement fuel tank

I have a used tank from a 140. It is at my hangar and I can check on it and maybe email a photo if you like. Can't remember off hand if it is a left, or a right side tank.

Re: Secondary seat stop service kit

Aryana, I have a seat stop that is probably like the one in your pictures. In my 52B model it is attached to the floor just inboard of the inboard seat track, and just aft of the tunnel and fuel valve. To slide the seat fully aft you just hold the latch back out of the way with your finger. It doesn...

I have N2435D which was also first owned by Cordova Airlines. When you get your 170 to Fairbanks, let me know. It would be fun to compare airplanes histories.
