Re: Instrument Panel Upgrade

Just a few updated pictures for you. Here is how we are moving along. The plane is up and flying again - panel overlay is almost complete. The PS Engineering 6000B Audio panel is very nice and the Garmin SL30 Nav/Com is REALLY nice, even better driving the HSI. By the way, the venturi is driving the...

Re: 170A panel light wiring

Hi Bruce,

Food for thought... This is how my NuLites looked on the back of the panel - notice the slight green tint,

Re: IFR 170b

Flylow, Good Morning. Lot’s of interesting comments. Richard provided some excellent advice to you and as a side note, his panel was the fuel that got me to re-do mine. A bit of background – my 170B was equipped with a KX-125, which has an internal CDI window on the radio, a stand alone 4 place ...

Re: 170A panel light wiring

Bruce, Very sorry this is so late - it took awile to dig up the info... I was having heat problems with my panel light reohstat as well and found some very helpful info on the 140 webb page. They recommended the below type bulbs and I found them, and green bulb boots at a very low price from: Candel...

Re: Thank You

Del, Really sorry to ear of your dad's passing. Seems like the older we get, the closer we get to our parents. I can tell you though, in time, the great memories of your dad will be the first thing that comes to your mind vs. the sadness you feel today. And right after that - smiles... Warm regards,...

Re: Pre Buy South Connecticut

Chris, 2 places come to mind. 1) Stick-N-Rudder Aero Maintenance, 240 George Ryder Road, Chatham, MA. 02633 "CQX" 508-945-5747 Tim Howard Tim has been my A/P - I/A for a number of years - 3 airplanes and for the last 5, for my 170B. We have gone into every nook and cranny of this airplane,...

Re: Venturi suction vs. IAS

Dave, Funny you should ask... In preparing to install my new panel which has a vacuum driven Century 360A HSI , I wanted to know if my Venturies would pull enough suction. I looked them over and was unable to get any info off the data tags which I had hoped would list their capacity. By the way, my ...

Annual Inspection 8087A

Evening Everyone, 87A is in for it's annual. The plane is completely opened up, and as part of my panel upgrade (seperate thread) - the old panel, instruments, associated hose / tubing / wiring etc has been labled and removed. My avionics and associated rack has been removed, and having all this out...

Re: Headphone Jacks - (rear) and wiring

John,

Many thanks... What a great interior. Just from that shot, it looks as if much attention to detail was paid on your plane. Really nice looking :)

Headphone Jacks - (rear) and wiring

Good Evening Everyone, 87A is in for it's annual and along with whatever we discover in this years journey my new panel will take the bulk of my efforts. In addition, in will go a PS Engineering 6000B audio panel. My question to all of you is this; Where have you run your wires for the rear intercom...

Re: Instrument Panel Upgrade

Gary, Sorry to take so long to respond. 87A starts its annual tomorrow. Now on to your questions... The nulites are 3/16" thick so for the altimeter and clock I have to change the knobs to longer ones. The HSI has longer shafts and won't require longer knobs. I've changed out the altimeter one,...

Re: Advice about serving in the Armed Forces (split from Fuel Lu

Brad, My current assignment in the Coast Guard Reserve is as the Reserve Command Master Chief for the First Coast Guard District - which serves ME/Canadian boarder down to Sandy Hook NJ and as far west as lake Ontario. Within that area are approximately 1100 of the 8100 folks who serve in the CG Res...

Re: Life Is Good, 170 style

Well - I imagine that many of us have the pleasure of bringing our kids up in these planes... Funny thing, I have two boys - one 16, and I can only get him in the plane if the purpose of the flight is to further something he needs or wants to do. My other son is 12 and for example... Last Wednesday ...

Re: Instrument Panel Upgrade

Good Morning Joe, You can do some nice upgrades and keep the price down. I have been working on an updated panel for my 52B model and am just about ready to start the install with the annual next month. I don't have the ability to post pictures on the forum but if you send me a PM, I can get an e-ma...
