Re: Destroyed cylinders

Thanks for all the support on this issue, guys. There is a possible light at the end of the tunnel on this issue and I don't want to reveal the names of the shop involved yet for fear that it might influence the final outcome. Hopefully, soon, I'll be able to name the company involved with a report ...

Destroyed cylinders

OK, I'm off my Airbus soapbox now, and have a C145 engine concern/question. I took my airplane in for annual in late September and was told by the IA that I had some serious exhaust leak issues due to improper exhaust gaskets (Lycoming) having been installed sometime in the past. This allowed erosio...

Re: Plastic parts, Airbus V Boeing split- cleaning out my 17

I simply cannot recall ANY Boeing-qualified pilot who hated any of their airplanes. Here's one! I flew the 737-200 for a year and couldn't wait to get off of it! Admittedly, I had just come off the 727, which I absolutely loved, and couldn't help but compare the two. Where the 727 felt st...

Re: Triple Tree Departure

Hey Walt. The weather and, I guess, the TFR over CLT kept the numbers down a bit this year over last. We still had a blast, but it wasn't quite the same as last year. We'll be back next year to try again!

Re: Triple Tree Departure

Thanks! 7000' x 400' and it looks like a fairway! Yes, it is a fantastic facility and Pat is so generous to share it several times a year. The music makes it more exciting, don't you think?! I did another one, which by itself would have been pretty boring, but put the theme music to Hawaii 5-0 from ...

Triple Tree Departure

I've been playing around with my new GoPro camera and shot this departure and fly by from Triple Tree earlier in the month! Let me know what you think. I apologize for the logo in the middle of the first part of the video, but I haven't decided which video editing software I like best and, until I p...

Re: Video to breakfast

Ditto on the mount request! I've used my suction cup mount on the top of the fuselage and it works great, but with a lot of vibration!

Re: Control Tee Bushing

Thanks,George. I reassembled everything today and discovered another minor problem that I had thought was the fault of the possibly missing bushing. The controls were binding slightly and I thought it was because the through bolt was too tight and slightly crushing the tunnel walls onto the T. Thank...

Re: Control Tee Bushing

Thanks, Dennis. I saw the updated part number for S18-30 also and wondered if it's the same part. $140 for a bushing seemed kind of steep! Upon further inspection, I think the bushing may still be in there, but it's not obvious with the T in place. I assumed that the bushing would extend slightly pa...

Control Tee Bushing

Tee Bushing.jpg I've been noticing a slight bind in my elevator lately and decided to investigate today. What I found gave me a bit of a surprise, but I'm sure glad I found it! The nut on the bolt which holds the control tee in place had fallen off and the bolt had started to work its way out of th...

Re: best instrument repair shop?

I bought a rebuilt clock from this guy (savinghistory4u) on Ebay and it's been tickin' for over a year now! He even gave me $30 for my non-working original.

Re: best instrument repair shop?

I'll third the AQI recommendation. I had my AI, DG and T&B overhauled by them. My DG was shot so for only $80 more they exchanged it and sent my old one back, which is now a bookend! There was initially a problem with the tilt on the AI, it showed a descent in level flight, but they fixed that q...
