Thanks for clearing that up Miles, I had not looked at the agenda before my post.

I’ll plan on camping at Jay’s Saturday night.

Re: 2023 Cessna 170 Convention, Sault Ste. Marie Michigan

I just made my hotel reservation at the Kewadin for the convention online without any problems. Looking forward to it! I would love to camp at Jay’s but the departure day of the convention, July 23, is the last day to secure the reserved group parking at OSH, so I’ll probably fly straight to OSH on ...

Re: Solder for copper primer lines

Silver soldering is NOT the same as brazing and requires special solder. It is good for joining copper and brass but requires higher heat than lead solder plus special flux and the joint surfaces must be absolutely clean and completely fluxed for the joint to hold. It is much stronger than lead sold...

Re: My rudder has a lot more travel to the left

To measure the rudder travel, is there a recommended tool, or will have I have to build something to accurately measure it? Will a prop protractor used on top of the vertical stabilizer do the job? Iphones have a built-in level/inclinometer in the Utilities app under “Measure”, “Level” that is accu...

Re: where to find interior foam insulation

Selkirk makes pre-cut soundproof kits in 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch thickness available for Cessna 170, 172, 175, 180, 182, 185, 206 and 207 aircraft.

Pretty sure Spruce sells the bulk pieces.

Did you change your mind? Last time we discussed landing lights you were convinced incandescent landing lights were superior to LEDs.

I’m interested in your apparent change of opinion.

Re: F&M Oil adapter slippage and leakage

On another note, Tempest has come up with ANOTHER new gasket design that they say heals all the previous gasket problems. Don’t know if this is common knowledge or been discussed before but they sell a gasket kit with the “new” gasket and a crush washer on their website. Talking to the Tempest tech ...

Re: F&M Oil adapter slippage and leakage

Karl- I don’t know, oil resistant aircraft quality is all I know. I have posted pictures on my original post so you can get a visual of what was done. I was watching a guy assemble a new engine and happened to see this procedure. It later dawned on me why don’t the Tempest folks do this on their oil...

Re: Alternator STC

One of the truly nice things about having Piano switches, is not leaving the Master on. Just a quick glance at the switches confirms all are off. If any doubts, just run your hand under them. I've never left it on since buying the plane. There are those with piano keys that have never left the mast...

Re: F&M Oil adapter slippage and leakage

This is not advice, just an explanation of something I have seen done in a similar situation. A similar condition exists on some Jacobs engines that have had an auxiliary oil sump added to the existing engine oil sump. There are two large diameter hollow bolts that secure the aux oil sump with crush...

Re: Alternator STC

Thanks for bringing up the portable battery option for a dead battery and alternator situation. I have asked every person I know that understands these systems better than me how much voltage and power does it take to excite an alternator? Nobody so far can even make a good guess. And it hasn't been...

George-
You might contact Sensenich and let them know all C-170 did, can, or do have O300 engines. Everyone seems to think the 170B is the only model.

Re: Ranger Airfield fly-in. 10/01/2022

It's a great fly-in, Friday thru Sunday, camp on the field or they have a shuttle into hotels in Eastland. Usually a hamburger benefit feed at noon on Saturday.
