Re: What did you buy for your 170 today?

Getting rid of the droop tips. So polishing the orignal ones.
Well cleaning off the 65 years of oxidation. Amazing what a little cut polish will do...

Re: Wire

Yes, very aware of the limitations. I wouldn't want to put any I/A in that position anyway. But would like to put in the order for supplies so they are on hand. And don't forget to slip the two pieces of shrink tubing onto the wire before you attach the other terminal! I can't tell you how man...

Re: Wire

Battery is still in the front right side of engine compartment. No service port, although this sounds like a good idea. The airplane is strictly VFR and I have no plans to change that. I enjoy the current view. I was thinking of going the circuit breaker route. I like the Klixon ones. http://www.chi...

Trying to place an order to do this same thing.
Can you suggest a quantity, type and size of terminals to purchase?

Re: New Member Old Plane

Ha. Yeah. I think those coupled with the Tailwheel rebuild makes for a much more pleasant experience. Thanks for the parts. Still needs some brake to steer, but I'm told that's a 170 attribute.

Picked up N5793C today. Little too tired to narrate a story, but a beautiful day to take delivery.

Re: New Member Old Plane

I noticed that there are: N5792c And N5795c Still alive and well. They are both listed as a 1950 model. Wondering how or why my N5793c is a 1951? Could it be that it was sold in January 1951 so they just called it a 1951? I found an orignal STC for the float install. Too large file too attach. It's ...

Re: New Member Old Plane

So the insurance company would like me to get 5 hours dual instruction with a CFI in order to insure me.
Anyone near New Bern NC? Want to do some hurricane flying?
I'll check the CFI list but figure I'd try here as well.

Ok. Did that. Funny but if I type in the N5793C and the s/n it comes up as a 170B. Ordered the cd anyhow. Thx.

Re: New Member Old Plane

Just a short intro, I'm buying a 1951 Cessna 170A s/n 19837 from a member here. Looking forward to the next adventure. I'd like to put the aircraft on floats. I have log books from 1954 but nothing from 1951-1954. First 754 hours are missing. But there are some of the original STC's. It appears as ...

I like a good mix of things, like 70% working...
