I am in Priest River, ID and would be able to weigh it again if you want an accurate number. I will be weighing a few airplanes over the next few weeks. If you bring it over I could do it for as little as $50.

119 mph on 7 gph!!! Good solid 3 place airplane in and out of under 800'. I had a friend and I and 3/4 tanks on the top of a 6250' mountain and stepped off the Take-off run at 425'. The vis over the nose is unmatched and this helps in rocky and rutted places. It was half the price of an equal qualit...

I worked in the same hangar as Bud's 170 for a few weekends in Palmer, Alaska. There is definitely a lot of history in that bird. It is funny to hear the stories from Cordova, AK. There was an outfit there flying Pacers for hire when the first 170's made it to Alaska. The 170 beat the 180 by a few y...

Before doing it you should check your sanity. Remember we don't run 600x 6 tires and we didn't do it with out a lot of instruction about reading the terrain. I do it everyday, but that doesn't make it safe. If you don't know the terrain you should always land in someone elses tracks and make sure th...

Take it out and enjoy. If you want to make a logbook entry remember that you need to put your certificate number next to your name. This is often times forgotten. Part 91 you are OK; if you were Part 135 you would need to be signed off as having had training by an A&P. I have a weight and Balanc...

http://www.c170.com/gallery/view_album.php?set_albumName=album01&page=2 OK, the weather was bad this weekend so I didn't go out flying. But I did shoot some pictures of it sitting in the hangar with it's new colors. I wanted a highly visible scheme for flying in the backcountry and I feel I succ...

I flew the 170 home from paint yesterday. I love it and I'm glad that it is back. I want to get it on skis for the weekend and go get some nice shots to post, but I hear the weather is going to turn ugly. I'll do my best to post pictures. I can't imagine getting a better job done for less that 10K a...

Here is a link to some "in process" photos of the 170. I hope to go get it on Thursday the 12th of Feb. The weather is the only thing I'm worried about. I will post pictures of it completed when I get some.

Eric, The base is done and he is masking the scheme. He said he would not have it assembled for the weekend. So I am planning to go get it on Valentine's Day. I am getting itchy without it. I've been stuck flying Cubs whenever the weather allows. They are fun, but I hate going that slow. I'll send p...

My instructor taught us spins before we soloed and it was a form of enjoyment for us. He would let us spin the champ, 140, and luscombe all we wanted. He was quick to teach us that it is a precision maneuver and would not let us do anything until we understood them. He expected us to hit a heading o...

As mentioned '64 was the addition of the 3rd window. The change in the cab top was in'63. The 180 and 182 fuselage were the same until the end of '59. In 1960 the 182 used the same fuselage as a 185 and continued until '62. '63 was the first year of the 44" wide fuselage in a 182. The 180/185 l...
