About two weeks ago, I was half-way home from a 1 hour flight when I noted a slight tach. fluctuation (2400 to 2450 rpm). I'm in Alaska and also use the duckbill anchors for off-airport tiedowns. I think my anchors are 4-inch and they have a 18-inch tether cable. I carry a 24-inch bar to drive them in with and turn the bar sideways through the eye in the tether to "set" the anchor. I use an army trenching too...

You might consider a V brace while you have the windshield out. My 170 and most in Alaska have a V brace from the top of the door posts to the top of the firewall to resist the twisting of the windshield when taxiing over rough ground or operating on skis. Greg,

A friend in Alaska painted his hangar floor last year with a two-part epoxy paint system that he got at Lowe's Home Improvement. He added the paint flakes to the surface for visual appeal. Very professional looking finish in my opinion.
