Master light and oil pressure gauge connection

I had the altimeter rebuilt and while I had the front panel out I decided to rewire the master light. I’m having trouble with the wire running to the oil pressure gauge. When I jumper an alligator clip ground the light works when I remove it it will not illuminate when the master is switched on. I’v...

850-6 4 PLY AERO CLASSIC SMOOTH TUNDRA TUBE TYPE (AA4K5)

Has anyone tried out the Desser Tire Smooth Tundra tire yet? I just purchased the 8.50x6 4 ply to put on at annual and wondered what type of wear/ground handling PIREPs are out there.

Extended TBO for Lycoming Installations

Wanted to let everyone know that Lycoming released SI 1009BA yesterday that extends the TBO to 2200 hours for anyone flying behind the 0-360 (and other engine models). If you're flying more than a 100 hours a month with your plane, it extends the TBO to 2400. The SI can be found here: http://www.lyc...

Re: 0300 Rockers - Fresh Overhaul

If memory serves, an O300 pumps two gallons of oil thru the system every minute at cruise RPM. (In other words, every minute your O300 pushes it's entire sump quantity of 8 qts thru the engine.) Lycomings much less than that, (again if memory serves, less than 1 gal/min) and is often quoted as why ...

Re: Motor mount help??

I have the original cessna prints for the engine mount, the top mount dimension shows 18 5/32" from the centerline of the drawing and 13 13/16" for the bottom mounts from centerline.

Re: Charging system troubleshooting

Thanks guys, Update: I flashed the field from the battery positive terminal to the generator arm terminal and then grounded the field terminal on the generator and ran it up. At about 1500 rpm the volt meter finally jumped and showed a charge that was changeable by Throttle movement. No then hooked ...

Re: Charging system troubleshooting

John, you're suggesting the battery positive terminal to the Arm terminal on the generator instead of doing that through the VR?

Re: Charging system troubleshooting

i reviewed my troubleshooting, I have not yet grounded the field terminal of the generator to ground and ran the engine with the new generator installed. I guess I need to do that first. And my assumption that battery voltage at the field terminal with the master on is incorrect, I should only see v...

Charging system troubleshooting

I used the 170 electrical manual and the Cessna 100 series manual to troubleshoot a no charge situation on my A model. Twice now, I've replaced the generator due to stopping at the point when I run the field terminal from the generator to ground and running the engine with no charge showing on the v...

Re: Engine shaking

Sticking valves? Check out Lycoming SB388C for valve guide condition and carbon buildup. How many hours on the engine? Cylinders new or overhauled?
