Re: Del Lehmann, Mountain Airframe, Mena, AR
There are now four 170's in for repair with Del. I arrived this afternoon, in N3415D, to have some aging aircraft repairs. So, my ship is number 4. Member planes belong to: Paul Wood, Miles Bowen, and Mike Purpura, plus mine. Del and his crew are doing excellent work. Del walked me around, showing i...

Re: Outboard landing gear bracket
[quote="johneeb"]Thanks for the invitation Steve. Did your gear have the shims (number 6 in the below drawing) installed? If not that may have contributed to the gear movement. John, your question caught my attention. I have watched my gear come off and on twice and don't remember seeing t...

Re: Tail wheel spring
... Swixtt, So here is a simple way to tell if you are in need of main spring replacement....... ... take a gander at your destroyed rudder and the repair bill! IF your mainspring has 500 hours/landings on it... it needs replacement. IF you have no idea when it was last changed.., unless you're wil...

Re: 55' lady legs straightend?
Does Tom completely overhaul or just inspect and clean? Can he rebend and shot peen them? I have a set of early 180 legs for 95D and would like to send them out for the full Monty if possible. Tom does it all ! Clean, inspect, heat & bend to Cessna spec., and shot peen. I got them back with a f...

Re: 55' lady legs straightend?
I used Tom Anderson and am highly pleased. The total rework process, plus shipping from GA to WA and back, took 4 weeks. I had thought it would take longer; so, borrowed loaner legs from Paul Wood in order to enjoy the spring flying.

Re: Continental C-145 Prop very tight on shutdown.?!
I have had a stuck valve twice. Both times with around 500 STOP. the tightness and squeaking you describe were present both times. I would explore that area first.

Re: Cabin Entry Step
Frank and others, Thanks guys for in put. It appears Joe and I have tested the upper limits for passengers using the Entry Step ( 310# by Joe and 360# my plane). When I purchased my plane 32 years ago both entry steps had be repaired and one was shorter than the other. 8O In 2005, I notice cracking ...

Re: Cabin Entry Step
Does any one know the load bearing capacity of the Cabin Step Assembly. Although I replaced both right and left assembly's roughly 8 years ago, the question arose when I took a friend flying who weighed 360 pounds. The passenger side step held, but the thought crossed my mind as he boarded.

Carl,
Call or email Pat Bartone in Manchester, CT. Last time I talked to him he still has the exhaust pipes in stock. His phone number is listed in the membership directory. You can find it in the "members only" section on the home page of the website. Jim

ADS-B Optimism
Hopefully cost relief may be in sight. 8O Check out the article in the March 2015 "Flying" magazine by Robert Goyer (p. 17). He has proposed a low cost plan for light single engine aircraft that would keep the costs to around $1,500. It is a simplified ADS-B installation which makes use of...

Re: exhaust tailpipes
Frank and David, I took my mufflers to a local machine shop that did work for the RV guys. He looked the damaged seals over, took some measurements, and said no problem to make the parts to "my specifications" . This was more than 10 years ago and they are still working great. If I recall ...
