Eric, I find that a botched wheelie can usually be made into a respectable three pointer. But I do like wheel landings- I make them 99% of the time. Except when I have a load in the back, which is rare, and then a three pointer just seems natural. (Worst landing I ever made ina DC-3 was in Havana wi...

Bad weather forecast
Let me share with y’all a real downer- I was scheduled today to do an Angel Flight. I was to fly a lady with sarcoma cancer to a doctor’s appointment in Orlando, a trip of some 180 nm and back in the afternoon. Well, yesterday’s Fort Lauderdale newspaper front page predicted FLOOD WARNING ! . ...

Another story comes to mind- In Laos, in the 1960's, tools were dropped so the Meo tribesmen could cut an airstrip on a hilltop. When the airstrip was completed the inaugural landing took place. The Helio Courier approached and landed so hard the gear was splayed out and both wings had negative dihe...

Once I had a summer job as lineboy and a local pilot I knew always boasted what short landings he could make. As I was fueling a plane I heard a Whomp! I turned to look and there was his Ercoupe with it's belly on the ground and the main gear struts poking up through the wings. Now THERE was a short...

Touch & Gos
This Sunday morning I indulged one of my great pleasures and did 5 touch & gos and a full-stop in my 170. It's SO MUCH FUN I feel guilty.
After 16,000 hours, many of them in SE Cessnas, it's like a second childhood.
Good wishes to all you lucky 170 pilots !
