Gerry,
My father-in-law had his RV-6A painted by Dennis Mahling of Mahling Enterprises in Laton, CA. He did a fabulous job. Look at the article in the latest (Aug. '03) Sport Aviation on pg. 58 for a picture of the plane. Send me a PM if you would like my father-in-law's phone number.

Manuals
Hello Wolfgang, I'll be flying between Basel and Paris beginning the 27th. If you're interested I could bring manuals with me to mail from Basel. McCurtain Technology Group has the Cessna 100 series service manual for 1962 and prior and the C-170 parts catalog available for $20 each. See http://www....

control wheels
I'm looking for a set of original control wheels for my '52 170B, s/n 20734. The parts manual, in fig. 61, lists three different part numbers depending on the s/n of the plane. Does anyone know what the differences are between these three p/n's?

Cessna Tech Support
I was able to answer my own question. The left strut, p/n 0523606-10 has been superceded by 0523606-12. This is the p/n for a C-175 strut. In the process of researching this I found a very helpful resource in Tim Fisher at Cessna Tech Support. (316) 517-5800.

Strut replacement
George,
I've found a good deal on a left strut from a C-175. Would you--or anyone else out there-know off-hand if this strut would fit my '52 C-170B? The 170B manual lists the part as p/n 0523606-10 but I think it may have been revised to a -12. The seller doesn't know the p/n off his 175 strut.

Alternate engine
The engine I dream about putting on a 170 is the Zoche diesel. It would make the 170 look like a mini C-195. Unfortunately, the designer has said it will be ready "next year" for the last 15 years. See http://www.zoche.de/specs.html.

Washout
Thanks for the info. I was curious as another local 170B owner is rigging his plane. With the flaps lined up to the trailing edge fairings on the fuselage and the inboard ailerons lined up with the outboard edge of the flaps one aileron tip is about an inch from lining up with the wing tip while the...

I was looking for the correct amount of wing twist for the 170 wing but was unable to find it in the 100 series service manual. Does anybody know where to find this information?

Rigging info
Dave, The 16 page "tech note #14" is copyrighted. In addition to the article on rigging I've found CPA has a lot of other useful information as I rebuild my C-170B. Especially informative is their 172 forum where members with older 172s discuss issues related to their O-300. Another forum ...

wing root fillet
Bert, How much higher is one side than the other? On my C-170B the trailing edge of the right side fillet is 472 mm above the top of the side fuselage aluminum panel and 468 mm on the left side. In looking at the parts catalog I see that the part number for the fillets is different between the A and...
