Re: climb prop question

I had my 6 bolt, EM 76 53 prop, re-pitched to 49 pitch,
it cost my about 5 or 6 mph and it cost about $300 at the prop shop.

It gave me about 300ft/min better climb.

Re: Larger Tires for a 170B?

Hi Bruce, I did not have to put larger disc on. Latter on, I did how ever change to the 2 puck cleveland 62-52A brakes via STC SA02231AK. :) This change required me to change disc to 146-13601. I feel that this brake improvement is a benefit, with the 8.00 tires. I think I have a bit better feel and...

Re: Larger Tires for a 170B?

Hi Bruce N. I got my 8.00X 6 tires past Transport Canada. :D They agreed that the issue was NOT the aircraft flying or ground handling, with the 8.00 tires, ( as the 170 is approved with the 8.00 tires on Goodyear wheels.) They just asked, to "prove" that the Cleveland wheels can structual...

Re: STC value ?

George, You are correct, not difficult to install. Install the instrument in a 3 1/2 inch, instrument hole. Then 5 wires to hook up. 3 wires to the 3 wires on the transducer. Plus one wire to power with a 5 amp cb. One wire to ground. The transducer, a flow scan 201, installed on the fuel ine. John

Re: STC value ?

They do not manufacture these any more.

I had one on a light twin I flew back in the mid 80's for 5 years, and really liked
it. It a simple, easy to use little unit. I see you can pick them up around $100.
plus the transducers, for another $100 or so.

Re: STC value ?

Hi George, I am in Canada, we do not have field approvals , here ( that I know of ). :( I first went to Hoskins, and I found out, that they got bought out by Sandia Aerospace. Sandia Areospace has since sold it to Instrument Tech, I spoke with a very helpful guy at instrument Tech, who revieved all t...

Re: STC value ?

Thanks for the reply Bruce, I completely understand what you are saying. I just came away from the conversation, feeling that I was being taken advantage of. I understand market value. I obtained my own STC for my panel re-design, It took 6 months and $600. ? It was alot of paperwork, back and forth...

STC value ?

I was in contact with Harry at Del Air, about his STC for the Hoskins fuel computer, for the 170B, after a "conversation" about a few other things, I got back to the subject, of the fuel computer STC, ( paperwork, and permission ) Harry came up with a $500 figure. I feel that this was rath...

Yes George,
The passenger O2 mask would drop on approach as the cabin de-pressurized, to approx 14,000 FT
How high does the Hs 800 series have take off charts to ??
Are you still working at CAE ? I am going to Brand X @ DFW, June 14-19th ??

Re: Going For a 2 mile drive

Hi Richard,
We do not have take off charts above 10,000 ft, therfore the answer would be no,
unless the manufacturer could supply us with certified data ?

But that brings up an interesting question, what would happen IF you landed at a 13,000 ft asl
airport ?

Re: Going For a 2 mile drive

Yeah Brad, It is real simple, keeping on the center line,... compared to my 170 !, but it is hand eye co-ordination 8) vs feet and eye co-ordination. ( nose wheel tiller steering ) Richard, This was my first time in Bolivia, but I was very impressed with this airport, very very clean, well ru...
