Just renewed my insurance. For $1mil/100k on a $30k hull I was quoted $868. That's about $20 less than last year, despite increasing the hull somewhat. Commercial and instrument rated with 585 TT, 285 TW, and 245 hours in the 170.

I've always just said "Cessna 2669V". Unless it's my home airport they probably assume I'm 172, and that's close enough for me. Occasionally (usually if I'm picking up flight following from approach), they'll come back with "2669V, say type Cessna".

A couple years ago my dad used the Guillows kit to make me a model of my 170. He wasn't happy with the quality of his workmanship but I love it. Building a stand for it is on the quarantine project list.

Welcome to the dirty bellies club. My '48 does the same thing, it's just a frothy oil/water mix dripping out of the breather. Nothing to worry about.

Bruce made me a great set if winterization plates last year. I use the oil sump plate at 60F, but down here in Illinois pretty much never use the cowl plates. They just seem to be too much unless OAT is down in the teens. Between freezing and 15 I use one or two strips of tape instead.
