Thanks Bruce,
That will be number one on my list today, after work.
I am going to pull the finger screens at the back ( bottom) of the rear case
while I am at it.
I need to get my confidence back on this engine.

Re: No Oil Pressure
We took off the oil pressure line, between the engine and the fire wall.
we did not , crack / bleed the line, but we ran the engine with the line diiscoonected,
and no oil came out.
Yes the tach is still working, as is the alternator, and mags.

Re: I need some help on a Carb heat problem
My take was,... It got carb ice the day before with temp about -5c , and it never cleared as the carb heat was not working, Then the next morning it was -16c , and the ice that was allready in the carb, got nice and hard over night at -16c. I pre-heated, ( oil sump pad and 100 watt light bulb ) then...

Re: I need some help on a Carb heat problem
Hi George,
Have you heard of the butterfly valve breaking like mine did ? Along the shaft ?
It looked like the valve was only welded on each outside edge .? Is that correct?
Is that all that holds the valve on to the shaft ??

Re: I need some help on a Carb heat problem
Good point, Fred, I will check, it first thing this morning, I did not think of that,...... -16c this morning.
It will be a bit of a chore to get it out if that is what it is, but I will be VERY Happy , if I can find that it is
The problem.
Thanks. John

I have been to Arizona , many times, in winter, and summer, but I still perfer the seasons. Not too much ski flying in Arizona?

Re: Removing the lower cowl
Left rear plug, is #2 cylinder, my #2 always runs the hottest, (I have 6 CHT + 6 EGT ) and #2 has always been the
hotest, I have new baffels, and re-checked every thing, I guess someone has to be the hottest.

Re: Best Three Mods
Hi Greg, I have a 52 170B as well. In my option, the 3 best mods are, 1) pull handles for the tail, 2)180 gear legs, and Cleveland double puck brakes ( if you run 800 tires, ) 3) P Ponk gear box upgrade. (Once we started to do my upgrade we found that the existing Cessna gear box extrusions were bad...

Re: A recent trip.
I believe, around 1965 , they put the extra rear wind in the C 180 as well as in the C 185.
