Static Port
The venturis are on the right side of the aircraft and the staic port on the left. I do not have an alt static system or sw so can't do that but can do the next best thing, altho a bit archaic, and that is just pull the static source off the encoder. On a previous aircraft I did have the alt static ...

Tested the A/S indicator for leaks....none. Gonna try pulling the static line off the encoder in cruise and check for any changes in the A/S, VSI and Altimeter. Running out of things to try.

EGT
I have exactly the same problem on my C-170B, C-145 engine. Installed a UBG-16 EI on a firewall forward new engine with 70 hours on it now. The #2 EGT runs around 1435-1460 or so on climb out. If I pull the power back to 2400 RPM or so the EGT settles around 1350. Ideally the cylinders should all be...

Pitot Static
TX for all the info on this very, seems like, subjective subject. I am going back to have the A/S checked again. It was checked and found OK once. The "doughnut" fix is still working just fine. Before that fix I still feel that the static port was receiving some ram pressure...how?...I hav...

I'm gonna try a couple of things next week including checking the integrity of the A/S indicator. I'll let you all know what I come up with, if anything. Thanks.

Static Port
Got an unusual problem. My 170B static system when connected to the static port and the A/S, V/S, Altimeter and encoder will show 20 mph low, 300 fpm down in level flight and about 200 feet low on the altimeter. When disconnect from the encoder and cabin air is the static source everything works jus...

door restraints
Does anybody know where I can get the original door restraints that came on a '54 170B. Just bought the airplane and it not only doesn't have any but no mounting holes can be found anywhere on the underside of the wing nor is there any hole in the top of the door.
Thanks,
Thanks,

Thanks guys for your input. I also know that it's more the pilot than the additions to an airplane that generally make it do what you want or need. I owned a C-180 for about 5 years and still fly one regularily back in the midwest and it was a STOL airplane as it was made originally right from the f...

Vortex Generators
Anybody have any experience flying their 170 with VG's installed? I would like to hear some comments on how it flew before and after. I did it on my C-150 and it made a tremedous difference in the slow flight regime and power on stall regime.
Thanks,
