That thing is cool! Looks very realistic.

So how is flying a tailwheel model? All the RC stuff I ever flew had a training wheel :)

I can't help with the info (mine is a '48), but I would love to see some pics - even some in progress / construction pictures.

I've been trying to figure out who this guy is and how he is funding the trip.

That way, I can do the same thing! :)

Anyone know? Using the wonders of google my best guess is that he is an anesthesiologist from SoCal.

I should be able to; problem is, I just moved and the scanner and books are still packed. I doubt I will have a chance to pull them out before Oshkosh.
If you don't get a copy before then send me a PM and I'll forward them next week.

Man that sucks. Makes me sick at my stomach to see that ... then they almost rip the tailcone off trying to turn it over. I like the speculation on YouTube - "or since it is a 1951...malfunction is very possible" - I guess my '48 is really bad ... and that '41 Waco I rode in this afternoon...

I don't know how far they should :) but I can describe mine (not sure I have a pic but can get one tomorrow). They both stick out an inch or so, maybe a little more. One is cut so the angle faces into the airstream, and one is cut the opposite direction. I doubt this is correct, but it is how they a...

Landing long

Not really 170 related, but an interesting video - PG13 for language (if that sort of thing bothers you). I was amazed no one said anything until well after things were going very wrong. I was nervous just watching the video! http://www.aviating.com/mooney/video/index.html (It is the Whidbey Island ...

How soon do you need them?

I am going to buy a new camera before OSH and was planning on taking some pics of my ragwing sometime this summer - hopefully on grass (the airplane, not me!)

Hmmmm.... "In crosswind conditions, a three-point (or stall) landing may result in a ground loop. Generally, it's best to use the wheel and wing-low landing methods in crosswind conditions. The additional speed associated with a wheel landing will give the pilot more rudder authority to counter...

I have the Icom A24 and like it a lot. It is bigger, so it is easy to hold in one hand and still hit buttons (the smaller one is tougher to tune).

It is very durable and reliable. I also have an alkaline battery pack for backup.

Thanks for the input.
I actually got my hands on a copy of the book, but have only had time to look at the pictures and read the captions ... sounds like an interesting read!

I doubt it was in an aft CG range - there was all of 150lbs of me in the airplane and that's it. This may be something for us to look at during the annual this year ... I'll talk it over with the mechanic. Where do I find info on how the airplane should be rigged? i.e. wing incidence, stab incidence...
