Thanks Bruce!
Weather looks good and we are off to Chatham to pick up 94D in the morning. I'll let you know how it went in about 10 hours or so. Now if I can only convince the better half that flying 10-20 hours on my bird is my JOB for the next week! ...

Re: Bad news - free advice sought
Gents, As it turns out I’m picking up my trusty steed this week after a post prop-strike incident in which I opted to pay the over and above for a full overhaul with Millennium cylinders. Amongst many options over the ensuing five months I did not choose to install a full engine monitor. I will have...

Re: Wanted: Bartone Exhaust Extensions (merged topic)
Folks, I just visited with Pat last week at his home. I did ask him about further supplies on the exhaust pipes since I knew others were looking. He said he was still looking for a shop that would build them at a reasonable price. Perhaps if we could point him toward the right shop we could get them...

Re: Engine monitor or not?
John,
Near as I can tell the glare shield must have been updated in 1990 when the “Avionic Research International” custom instrument panel was installed by the owner at that time. Thanks.

Re: Engine monitor or not?
Nippaero, All good points. In fact since I plan to instruct family and friends in 94D I was planning to keep the original tac inplace. Here is my my panel. I agree with the value an analog tac brings in providing at a glance trend info. I had not thought of the post shut down tac time issue. I would...

Re: Engine monitor or not?
Gents, Thanks for the sage advise. My time in SE Recips is limited and I work in a world where there is never too much technology to solve any problem... I do enjoy the simplicity of flying a well designed and well maintained machine. Here's to more flying and less worry ... blue skies to all. Wish ...

Engine monitor or not?
Folks , I’ve read most of the posts on this forum that come up under an “engine monitor” search, including the fuel flow discussion. My O300A is in rebuild as we speak and I have gotten quotes on the install of the Electronics International CGR 30P. The prices including install are in the $7700-8000...

Re: Skytec Starter Upgrade
Quoting George, AS for leaking clutch-shafts... there is an excellent article on which oil seal applies. There were several versions for various mod-status clutch housings. I'll attempt to revisit this issue in an upcoming News Article. Is there a link to this article. I’ve got a rather persistant l...

Re: IPad Mount
I use the articulating “my go flight” yoke mount with an iPad mini 2. Works great and very functional. Pro very sturdy and easy to mount / remove the iPad using their mount system. Con more expensive than the Ram system which is what I went to for mounting cameras. The modularness (new word?) of the...

Re: Not Bad For A Navy Guy
Gizmo, Welcome. I too am a long time military guy who found the mighty 170 fit all my mission needs and looks great to boot! I purchased my 1952 B model in August and have been very happy. Although as as New England flyer I’ve learned Cessna improved the heat system in 1953. :? I’m just now approach...

It’s about time to post a couple of shots of the fine 170B I purchased at the end of August. Of course one of these shots will go on the Christmas card this year....

Gents,
Great discussion. As a new owner this is exactly what I needed to know also. Thanks!
