Re: Headliner Install pictures

I don't have any pictures, but many years ago I installed a new Airtex headliner in my 170A. It was a very easy process following the supplied Airtex instructions and looked as good as the factory original.

Re: Remember Pearl Harbor

George,

I knew exactly what the President said, but like others have guessed, I could not remember how to spell INFAMY. :D

Remember Pearl Harbor

Remember today is Pearl Harbor Day, December 7, 1941, the day that will live in infinity, honoring all our lives lost and the start of the greatest of all wars.

Re: Blocking N number from flight tracking websites

When I was still flying, I almost always used flight following with no flight plan and could never find any of my flights tracked.

Re: Cleveland Wheels field approval

I believe 6:00 x 6 and 7:00 x 6 were both approved in original certification but not 8:00 x 6. If you want larger than standard tires and no paperwork hassel, you can go with 7:00's. I think this is true for the straight 170 as well as the A & B. If not so, George will speak up.

Re: I want in the club! (read: I found one in the weeds...

On PM we are narrowing down information on the plane. It was probably last flying five to ten years ago and I have given Mike a contact number for Lynn who last rebuilt the plane about twenty years ago and also maintained the plane when it was last in annual.

Re: Wheel Pant Brackets

George,

Since a lot of 170's have 180 gear legs, would not my backing plates be the correct backing plates to use on a 170 equipped with 180 legs? How about 170 legs with double puck Cleveland brakes?

Re: Tail Wheel Organization

George,

I agree that our 170 Association is a much more friendly organization than the larger Cessna tailwheel club that I used to belong to, not mentioning any club name but remember I had a "Overgrown 170" for a number of years.

It was 31 degrees here in north Georgia this morning. Too cold for October 30th. At least the sun is shining.

Re: Tail Wheel Organization

Does the Cessna 120/140 Club have more or less planes than us?

George,

Have you ever figured out the runway numbers and pattern at Wilmington? :(

Re: Historical Tidbit...

I agree with Frank that the 2003 flight from Wilmington to Kitty Hawk was a very memorable flight, especially being the 100th anniversary year of their first flight. The flight, flying just off of the Outer Banks, was also one of the most beautiful scenic flights I ever made.
