Re: Left the master on...
Wow... It is good to hear that I'm not alone. It was one of those deals where I was just taxiing my plane around the airport and was out of the ordinary. I should know better than to shortcut anything. I can say I've learned my lesson now. Past planes that I have flown all had the oil pressur...

Left the master on...
So... I did it. I left my master switch on for two days and ran down my battery. That ended up not being a big deal. I connected a charger and not much later it started up like a champ. My dilemma is, apparently my Hobbs meter runs when the master switch is turned on and I gained 48 hours of Hobbs t...

Re: Aircraft Data Plate
Just to clarify.... I have the original data plate in the door sill. I'm just looking for a placard that would go on the exterior of the plane per FAR 45.11.

Aircraft Data Plate
I'm looking for an aircraft data plate to put near my tail surfaces per 45.11. Does anyone have a suggestion on where to get one? I'd love to get one that looks original, whatever that is... Also, can anyone share pictures of theirs so if I end up making my own I would have some examples to referenc...

Re: Seat Rail Stops / Clips
OK, so I'm hearing that the McFarlane version of the u-clip is adequate. I'm also hearing that I should get them for front and rear ends of the rail. I do also have a set of secondary seat stops (Saf-T-Stop). My last question, McFarlane kit #1 or #3? The difference is a couple bushings that look to ...

Re: What did you buy for your 170 today?
In the last month I’ve installed new right main and tailwheel tires and tubes and new wing fuel sump valves. I’ve also got a full tailwheel spring kit just waiting for a rainy stretch to install. And... I just purchased a replacement left aileron which will get installed this winter. Working on cros...

Re: Pros and Cons of Polished Aluminum
The problem with polishing is you are slowing removing the surface alclad layer of pure aluminum from your aluminum surfaces which is there to prevent corrosion of the aluminum alloy core material. As nice as it looks I think painting or using George's technique is the way to go. I went to the Nuvi...

Re: Seat Rail Stops / Clips
I know I’m resurrecting an old thread, just remember that I’m a newbie and I did search for this first. ;) For the seat rail stops (of which my 170A has none), it looks like the parts catalog for the A only show them at the back of the rail. I recently looked at another members 170B and he had a sto...

Re: Where can I find this tailwheel part?
Jim, That image is from the service kit SK70A52-4 instructions for the replacement of the tailwheel bracket with the fish mouth bracket. I have a 170A and the parts catalog for the A shows the same parts (exploded slightly different, but both pads are still below the springs). Doug 28E2A267-31F2-40B...

Re: Where can I find this tailwheel part?
Thanks for the ideas... I've looked at Grainger and McMaster for rubber sheets and looks like I'll end up spending $50 for a couple pieces of rubber. Anyone else have a less expensive suggestion? I found some mud flaps at my local Farm and Fleet for $12, but they were not fabric reinforced. Thanks, ...

Where can I find this tailwheel part?
Hey, 170 Association.
Does anyone know where I can purchase the pads shown in the image of the original tailwheel that are labeled #11, part number 0442119-1?
Thanks,
Doug

Checklist speeds - help needed
I'm new to my 170A and am working on my own checklist based on one from a past owner and one I used for a Piper Archer in the past. I'm having some trouble finding some values in the owners manual/AFM. Any help would be appreciated. On a zero flap takeoff, what is a good rotation speed? What about s...

Re: Fuel dipstick
I just received the 19 gal 172 Fuelhawk dipstick and modified it per the instructions from gahorn. I thought I would post some pictures just as a reference. I haven't tried it yet, but looking forward to using it. (by the way, if I modified it incorrectly, let me know and I will remove this post). D...
