Re: Primer line leak
On further examination, the end that affixes to the primer nozzle appears to be soldered on. If so, are these soldered in the same manner as copper plumbing pipe? Thx.

Primer line leak
I have a leak in my copper primer line between the firewall and the intake manifold. I was hoping for an easy fix by simply fabricating a new copper line with flared fittings at each end. Come to find out the fitting at the manifold is concave (for lack of a better description) and will not accept t...

Re: Request for photos
Thanks again for all the great comments and ideas. If possible, I'd like to install a drain valve in the fuel selector. Does anyone have information on the applicable STC? My field approval is pretty broad and authorizes alteration of the existing fuel lines to mimic the B model, so it may be possib...

Re: Request for photos
Excellent information, thanks. I'm going to propose to my A&P/IA using a combination of grommets and strategically placed Adel clamps. I hope to document the project with photos so the next guy won't have to reinvent the wheel.

Re: Request for photos
Thanks to you both for the replies, drawings and photos. It appears the fuel selector valve in the A and B models is located at the aft end of the tunnel, aft of the gear box bulkheads, while in the '48 it is located in the middle of the tunnel, forward of the gear box bulkheads. So, it looks like I...

Request for photos
Could someone with an A or B model either take a photo of one of the fuel lines passing through the rear gear box bulkhead forward toward the fuel selector valve or describe in detail the method used by Cessna to penetrate that bulkhead and support the fuel line? I need this info to move forward wit...

Re: '48 C170 Fuel Pump
C170B Owners: Would it be possible for someone with a B model to photograph how the fuel lines are routed forward through the fore and aft gear box bulkheads? There are no lightening holes in those bulkheads and I'm curious to see the means used to penetrate them for routing. There should be an insp...

Re: '48 C170 Fuel Pump
'48 C170 Owners, I have received from the FAA via field approval permission to remove the engine-driven fuel pump, check valve and fuel pressure gauge from my '48 C170 and to reroute the fuel lines aft from the main wing tanks down the rear door posts as designed for the A and B models. Thanks to th...

Re: '48 C170 Fuel Pump
As others here have reported many times, if you remove the fuel pump, fuel pressure gauge and check valve from your '48 170 without an FAA field approval, you will no longer be in compliance with the type certificate. IIdon't know about you, but I'm not willing to take the risk. That said, I've had ...

Re: Vref vs Blue Book
My broker uses vRef and has obtained several loan approvals (and loans) for me from lenders that also use that resource. Shop around.

I have the overlay from my '48, but have parted out several of the bezels. If interested, let me know.

Try a different lender. Many use just vRef.
