Re: 2023 Cessna 170 Convention, Sault Ste. Marie Michigan
Any chance we could get the maintenance forum recorded or streamed this year for those of us unable to attend? If someone has the equipment and could volunteer to do the recording and distribution, that would be great. These forums usually last several hours, and I don’t think your usual phone or t...

Re: 2023 Cessna 170 Convention, Sault Ste. Marie Michigan
Please use the UPDATED registration form linked in the previous post. I’m still getting older forms, which omitted the $8.50/person box lunch for the Pictured Rocks Boat Tour, had an incorrect deadline for the registration discount, and didn’t include a link to the convention shirt order form. If yo...

Re: 75th Reunion Celebration group parking at Airventure 202
Looking to go to my first Oshkosh this year with 89A. Is anyone flying out from the SW US? We'll be starting at L00 (Rosamond, Ca) and wouldn't mind tagging along if others are headed that way as well. I'll send my info in for parking. Thanks! Chris 8039A If you can leave early enough we’d love to ...

Re: Alternator Upgrade
I’ve had a 50-amp Jasco alternator with Skytronics regulator since 1990 and have had absolutely no issues with it. I had it overhauled along with the engine in 2006 at about 1000 hours and have put over 800 hours on it since then. ACS says this one comes with the alternator, regulator, and STC. You’...

Re: Valve Rotators on Superior cylinders.
ALL stuck valves (and rings) I’ve ever had in 2300 hours on my O-300 were due to carbon build up (never lead). Switching away from mogas back to 100% 100LL solved the issue for me. (As I’m the only one I’ve ever heard of who solved the issue this way, I can’t say it’ll work for anyone else).

A Cessna-built jig, now owned by Mountain Airframe in Mena, Arkansas. You might want to look them up and talk to Del Lehmann and/or Brett Ham. They have a lot experience with this level of repair to Cessna 170’s.Stick.Back.Aviation wrote:

If you’re presently over the Pacific Ocean…you are way BEHIND me. Actually we’re still at the airport in Auckland, on the west side of the International Dateline. It’s 11:45am WEDNESDAY where I am. I figure it’s 4:45pm TUESDAY in Texas. On local clocks we’re going to arrive before we depart. ...

I’m way ahead of you George, I hope to get most of it knocked out on the 14-hour AKL-DFW leg today.GAHorn wrote:Very Nice! (That looks to have potential as a “170 News” article…?
Also, he hasn’t made his mind up for sure yet, but we may see Brad at the Convention and at Oshkosh.

0:45 PIC in the Southern Hemisphere!
Some of you have seen this elsewhere, but for those who haven’t: Many thanks to New Zealand member Brad Raven for allowing me in the left seat of one of only four Cessna 170’s in New Zealand. With my wife Karen along in the back seat as official photographer we took off to the north from North Taran...

Detailed convention information and a registration form are now available at https://cessna170.org/about/convention/. The registration form should be in the next FlyPaper as well.

Once upon a time I seem to remember Charlie Beyer in Tennessee finding Trooper Tan for his ‘54 B. His contact info should be in the directory. You can tell him I suggested you contact him.
