Unmanned Control Tower

I hadn't heard of this, but I'm not surprised. I guess it could work pretty well, especially with ADS-B. What do you think?

Re: Control Yoke Universal Joint Failure

My Cessna Flyer magazine came yesterday and there is an article about McFarlane Universal Joints. Apparently there have been failures and they have issued Service Bulletin SB-9, Revision A. This concerns their replacement universal joint, Part No. MC0411257 that fits from the 120 to the 210. It appl...

Re: Early Spring in Michigan

Glad you got out, Miles. I put some time on 59Charlie Friday. Beautiful if a little rough. Of course, OZW has a nice wide runway - but, I still try to stay on the centerline.

Wow George, that Windy.com site is sure interesting. It will take some time to sort it all out though. Gives a good overview.

Re: Aviation Weather Forecasts

We saw the flash and heard the sonic boom too. I first thought it was a rare winter thunderstorm. Didn't find out till the next day. Our local newspaper has an article about people looking for remains. A couple have found some, so they did get to the ground.

Re: Cold Weather Adversely affects Brakes

I've never had mine leak due to cold, but then, it may depend on the age and type of o-ring. I still have the Goodyears and they have always worked fine. Good thing to watch for though, there's always a first time.

Re: A new contender for the 172/170

Not sure, but I do wonder, are our companies missing something? The production of airplanes that a person could own has slowed to a crawl here. . I here a lot of comments like this, and they make me wonder. It's not like a new 172 only costs $50k to make, and the rest is pure profit for Textron. Or...

Re: A new contender for the 172/170

Not sure, but I do wonder, are our companies missing something? The production of airplanes that a person could own has slowed to a crawl here. Of course, we need to promote private flying (which AOPA and EAA are doing) to get customers. But, why Italy? Another thing that's happening in Italy is res...

Re: Interior Light Question

As John says, there are lights behind the panel cover, although, from the parts book, the simple, non-optional panel may not include lamps. Three across the top and two on the bottom. As for the lower panel with oil press, temp., etc. there are two. They are retained by "pinch-in" socket a...

When Old Pilots Go West

Saw this on the AOPA facebook page. Kind of nostalgic. Flying West I hope there's a place, way up in the sky Where pilots can go when they have to die. A place where a guy could buy a cold beer For a friend and a comrade whose memory is dear. A place where no doctor or lawyer could tread, Nor a mana...

Re: 170 Literature

Good question. They didn't have that for the A Model so it's not in any of my 170/170A literature. Maybe George or Bruce know?
