corrosion

David, I think the word corrosion strikes the fear of God in just about every plane owner. We are on the coast down here in south Texas, and probably live in one of the most corrosive environments in the nation. Corrosion will creep in anywhere the paint or primer (if painted), has not adhered to th...

tail section measurements

I am converting my tail wheel steering system on my 53B model, to that of a 55B model, and desperately need a couple of measurements. I need the measurements of slots the cables go through on the belly of the plane, and the measurements for the location of those slots. If anyone who has a 55B model ...

Try to tell the feds a 2003 car manufactured in 2002 is NOT a 2003. If a C172 was manufactured in '56, then taken off the line and converted to 170 configuration at the factory and sold in 57 as a 170, then it is a '57 170, or, was this never done?

placards

Find a picture of the placards you want, or find a plane with the placards you want, then take a picture of them, take that to your friendly sign guy in town. They can photo copy those and make them any color and size you want. it will be a stick on transfer, they work great, and once they scan them ...

I have attempted to put a "wanted" post on the Trademart 3 times last week, and it never appeared. I went through the webmaster route with no results. I don't know if this is a problem at my end or what.

Unless the instructor has prior knowledge of the act about to take place, he has no reason to believe it would. Other than being the pilot in command of the aircraft, how can we make a judgement call on his actions? A passenger can release a seatbelt open a door and be out of that door in less than ...

when I began, I learned to "drive" a C150, I got my license in one and one half months start to finish. I then bought a 7AC Champ and it took me 4hours of time before I could land it safely, (this was a problem of coordinating turns because the 150 doesn't make you use much rudder). I feel...

55 tail section

Does anyone know of the whereabouts of a '55 C170 tail section? I'm not looking for the tail feathers, but the pulleys, brackets, eyebolts, etc; for the tailwheel steering control system. Any help would be appreciated.

fuel selector valve rebuild

Bruce,
Where did you order your seals and gaskets from? Did they have the required parts in kit form? I'm in the process of rebuilding mine and appreciate the heads up and parts information.
Thanks, Jon B

Good story! Isn't flying in a circular search pattern and looking out the window kind of like putting your forehead on a baseball bat and running circles around it for a while?! I once took a doctor, (vet), out to his ranch where he had some stranded cattle. He showed up in shorts, suspenders, tee s...
