Re: Landing Gear Differences
Jaime, 180 gear legs are not needed just because you will be flying in Alaska. The lady legs are a good gear that will take a real pounding with no problems. The P-Ponk box is a great feature, and is probably the most significant feature you can add to your gear, except for the axles. The larger tir...

Re: Rudder Damage
I would think that reskinning any part, or all of a control surface, would require you to balance that surface. I would plan on balancing the rudder, It's a piece of cake and since it would be off the plane, not a problem. Is the surface Painted? If so it will never be the same weight as before. Jus...

Re: "Y" yokes
I got my "Y" yoke from Delair. Had to send in my yoke and they converted it for me. I am very pleased with all the work they did for me. I also got their panel, as a blank, and made my own panel just as I wanted following their STC, (center stack). I have never had any problems dealing wit...

Re: Javelin Aux Tank with Selkirk Extended Baggage
John, What kind of weight can you put in the extended baggage? I have a javelin tank, and would be interested in weights, and what kind of W&B issues you might have. Which engine do you have? Thank you , Jon

Re: Rudder Hinge Delema
Steve I might be crazy, and it doesn't show it in the Parts cat., but as I recall the bottom hole that you have pictured, had a bushing in it on mine. I am not near the hanger today, but I am almost positive mine had a bushing there. I will be very busy this weekend, but will try to get out to the h...

Re: Rudder Hinge Delema
Steve looking at the cat. again, the hinge numbers match that of the A model, so that bolt size should be a good starting place. Jon

Re: Rudder Hinge Delema
Steve, The 170B parts cat. Calls for a AN4-11A bolt. I believe these are the same as the A model. It is the same bolt that is in the top hinge. That one also shows to have a bearing in it. We replaced ours a couple of years ago during our rebuild, and as I recall we just went by the parts cat. and h...

Re: Stall Warning Indicator Lamp
Kevin, My '53 model had the lamp in the middle of the stall warning horn, mounted under the left side control yoke. On the later models they put a blanking plate there, and moved the warning horn to the back of the glove box and attached it with a bracket, but I think they eliminated the stall warni...

Re: 180HP Avcon STC data package
Dave Stoots also has an STC for the 80" Hartzell prop and installation. I used his STC ,along with Harrys, when I put the 0360 Lyc and 80" prop in our 170B. Dave was excellent to work with and had some extra engineering done for us on our prop application. He went the extra mile to help us...

Earl Eastabrooks killed in KitFox helping another
On Zanes web site, I read that the owner of a C170, in the area of Seabrooke, Tx. was killed while flying in a Kitfox. Does anyone know who this pilot was, and if he was a member of the Association? I believe this happened Sunday or Monday. God bless his family and the family of the other pilot on b...

BL, Just lay on your back, cup your hands behind your knees, and kick away. Works just as good as your armpits!

camping under the wing
My advise, make a check list. My flying partner and I have camped under the wing several times. He is responsible for a few things, (tent, airmatress, icechest). First time we camped he forgot the tent stakes! Second time we camped, he did it AGAIN! Third time after several reminders to bring the sta...
