elevator trim rigging

What elevator do you have. The trim changed from the A model to the B model. The '48 170 is the same as the A model. Few people seem to realize there is a difference. If your trim hinge runs from the back edge of the elevator to the back edge of the elevator you have the early unbalanced elevator. I...

VGs

I love my VGs and highly recommend them. The Micro Vortex kit is one of the most complete kits I have ever seen. Besides the paint, alcohol and paper towels or rags you can drive right out to the plane with just their kit and a step ladder and you'll have everything needed to complete the installati...

Fuel valve rebuild and manual mistake WARNING

I just got done rebuilding my fuel selector valve. I have the newer valve found in the B model shown on page 106 of the 170B parts catalog. It is the valve that is machined out of square stock as opposed to the older one that looks like it has a forged body. WARNING Looking at my valve while I disas...

175 WINGS ON 170/172

My 170A has L-19 wings installed. The basis for approval was a letter from Cessna outlining what wings could be used as replacements. Basically any wing the same size and airfoil as original with the same type fuel system and flap system installed, from an aircraft with the same gross weight or high...
