Re: 2836C's Last Flight

Take the money and run. Close the chapter and start a new one. Don't burden yourself with parts from this plane that might be damaged or won't sell for as much as you had originally thought. I get that, I do and that might be the best thing for me. Not concern myself with the past and just look for...

Re: 2836C's Last Flight

Maybe I should post this in a new thread but any advice you could give on this insurance process and what I need to be aware of. I know George and some others gave me some advise. Just if you have been through anything close and have advise please share. I just hate to go in dumb about this and get ...

Re: 2836C's Last Flight

Maybe you can ask the adjuster if you can dril off one or both side panels with the N-number before they take the wreckage, and keep it as a memento. One side of my vertical fin had some old unused holes so I had Del replace it. This, along with some other bent and torn parts will be going up on th...

Re: 2836C's Last Flight

Thanks a lot guys. It's means a lot to have a place to come release a little, folks are supportive, and can understand what it means to lose your plane. My wife made a pie for my Uncle last night so I ran it over there after 9ish last night, he got to move back into the part of his home that still h...

Re: 2836C's Last Flight

I don't want to beat this death or wear you guys/gals out with all the images I comb through a day but for me it just feels good to vent a little I guess and share some of the images that have kind of been running my life for the past few days. I apologize if I am wearing you all with it. Still hard...

Re: 2836C's Last Flight

That Champ looks totally fixable. I've put together some that started out pretty ugly and bent up. I have done no real repair work but thought after getting it out that it surely could be repaired. Our IA came over yesterday to have a look. I showed up after most of the discussion was over. When I ...

Re: 2836C's Last Flight

Sorry for the slow response folks. Jut been busy during the daytime trying to assist my Uncle with cleanup and raising the roof on his hanger to extract his two planes. Thank you so much for the kind words and much needed insurance advise. I was told by the claims lady I would get a call from the ad...

Re: 2836C's Last Flight

Thank you all for your well wishes and kind words. I am insured and was supposed to hear from the adjuster last night or this morning and neither has happened. Never been through something like this so not sure what to expect from them or the whole process. I was told to leave the plane where its at...

2836C's Last Flight

My 1954 Cessna took her last flight last night. It was not under her own power, she had a little help from a tornado. I got a call about 12:30am this morning with the bad news.

Re: 2017 170 Convention

I guess since I am west of the Mississippi River I am not considered SE but since I'm between you and NM it might still work out. Plan to attend but with 6+ months between now and then I can't make any promises. I plan a lot of things the wife puts an axe to.

Re: Seems performance is worse after prop repitch.

I got my hands on a friends TruTach...and the optical and mechanical tach are very close. With the TruTach the static bounced between 2213 - 2232. Not sure if that is normal or if I just couldn't hold it still enough. With full throttle in level flight it was right around 2550 as previously stated w...

Re: Seems performance is worse after prop repitch.

If I was Justin, I would find an A&P that does prop balancing or contact a local EAA chapter to see if there is someone that has dynamic prop balancing equipment. They will be able to dial in his static RPM and also balance his prop drive train while at it and he would have a super smooth runni...

Re: Seems performance is worse after prop repitch.

One problem of many here is you don't know really where you started far as I can tell. I understand you have a feeling for how much rpm your prop use to make, but not a good static test, and you have a feeling for how far down the runway your takeoff roll was. But our starting point is really to va...
