Re: Those Tough Old Continentals!
Several years ago, I departed Roswell, NM, for Odessa, TX, in a C-85 powered C-120. After takeoff, I could hear a sound that resembled metal hitting metal, but couldn't place it. Finally, near Andrews, TX, there was a tremendous rattling. I ended up landing on a road, calling some friends, and trail...

Re: Sky-Catch Info
I installed the Door Steward on my 170A and have been extremely happy with them. They can pop off the post by easily removing the retaining pin. The kit even comes with a third post you can rivet to the airplane to stow the removed end, if you're going to be removing the door frequently or flying wi...

Re: IFR Equipment Requirements
The track change is reflected on a GPS heading indicator display as a change in heading - similar to that depictd by a Gyro heading indicator. Yes, "similar," yet very, very different. The fundamental differnece between what the 530-derived "heading" indicator and that of the FA...

Re: Oil Temperature Probe Nut
You should buy a lottery-ticket with luck like that! (You are so fortunate that it didn't let-go and dump all your oil in-flight~!) Yes, still counting my blessings! Oil consumption during the trip was the usual 1 qt in about 7-8 hrs or so. A couple small seeps from a couple of pushrod tube seals, ...

Re: Oil Temperature Probe Nut
I figured as much (that it's broke). When looking close-up (you can sort-of see it in the first photos), the fracture lines are not clean (they're jagged). Furthermore, they have a bit of gunk in them, indicating they've been that way for a little while. What really makes me think is that I just fle...

Attached are photos with the probe inserted and the nut started into the adapter. One of each half of the nut.

Oil Temperature Probe Nut
Returned home yesterday after a super camping trip to Montana and Idaho, flying more than enough hours to require an oil change today. After loosening the nut holding the temperature probe in the adapter, it fell to the drip pan below. I picked up two pieces, thinking that I'd never noticed this par...

Re: Jackson Hole camping
as you probably already know Jackson is one of the most expensive towns in America Yes, I made the mistake of overnighting there once in a T206H. Quite the shock to have to pay tie-down for one night.....on top of the landing fee.....in addition to having to rent a car for the overnight stay, after...

Re: Jackson Hole camping
Yes, we will get to Cavanaugh Bay a couple days after Jackson Hole, then start back down through Idaho & Utah. As Jimmy Buffett said, "Some of the world's best navigators don't know where they're going 'til they get there...then they still don't know!" That's part of the adventure.

Jackson Hole camping
Hello,
Some friends and I will be flying through the Jackson Hole area in a couple weeks. Any suggestions on camping near KJAC? We are looking at West Yellowstone, but would like to have a back-up in mind closer to KJAC. Thanks!

170 Fuel Selector Service Kit
Hello fellow 170'ers, Cessna Propeller Aircraft Customer Service is looking for a volunteer 170, serial range 18574 thru 18729, to perform a pre-service kit (called Kit Proof) to replace the original fuel selector valve with a new style valve since the original valves are no longer available. Cessna...
