Alodine 1201, then Alumaprep, a 2 part epoxy primer and colour of your choice at your local paint shop. Cessna is a great place for aluminum, preparation and paint requirements. Your A&P can help with painting and balance check of your control surfaces and make the appropriate log entries.

Re: instrument panel decals
Yep, try Cessna, they have them all, some for lots of $$$$. Or you can make your own. Refer to the flight manual in your 170, TCDS, and your copy of the IPC for description and part numbers. Your A&P should at least oversee the placard placement and make a logbook entry. regards, Dennis

Re: Control Tee Bushing
HI Joe, Looked around and found bushings and bearings for the control tee. Started looking a Preferred Airparts. The bushing S-18-30 is under S18-30, then changed to S2614-4-2 about $140 buks, the B610 is changed to S1997-6G10 about $30 buks. the AN200KP4 is changed to MS27640-4 and you can get it a...

Re: O 300D manual
Hi Gang, I contacted TCM a month or so ago. Spoke with a friendly Customer Service gentleman. Explained my need for C145 OH and IPC Manuals. He informed me that the IPC was not offered for sale, because it is not being updated and the latest OH manual is available for about $80. After some friendly ...

Re: URGENT COWL DOOR INSPECTION NOTICE
I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. One of the first repairs I took on after purchasing 9er1Charlie was cowling doors. I purchased 4 new latches from Cessna and new hinge stock from Spruce and WALA problem solved. So if your replacing latches take a good look at the hinges, they will be worn ou...

Re: Springs for cowl latch H5000-2?
Yep, the .032 is the thickness of the cowl door skin that the latch attaches to, and the .064 is the thickness of the frame that the latch closes against. So, it looks like your latches will will fit the door, But will NOT fit the frame by .010 loose at the frame where it latches. So, if you want a ...

Re: Back Seat
I don't believe the pre 62 MM has an approved tubing repair in the SRM, so you might want to go to 43.13-1B and check out the welding chapter for a repair of the seat frame or back (you don't say where the damage is located). You can get the correct diameter and thickness of 4130 tubing from Spruce ...

Re: Springs for cowl latch H5000-2?
Cessna wants about $45 for the 5000-2-032-064, use S1188-1. Hartwell wants $135. Shop around and you might find it cheaper.

Re: Revision of seat rail AD coming?
Hi John, Jim, Old Gar, and minton are on the right track. The FAA has responded to continuing incidences of seats disengaging and sliding back with disastrous results. So, here we go again. Just a reminder that AD 87-20-03 R2 is an Annual Inspection not a 1 time event. You should have a copy of the ...

Re: Fuel Smell
Larry, The previous postings are all good advice but, just in case the light hasn't come on. The condition you have described is extremely dangerous. I recommend a though examination of the fuel system and necessary repairs completed before further flight. It would be a pity if something disastrous ...
