Re: Mixture/Prop/Throttle replacement for 180hp 170B
It's a little hard to tell in the photo, but if the cable is clamped to both the firewall and a component of the engine, and if the clamps are not fairly widely spaced, then something has to give when the engine moves around a little in its mounts.

Just guessing that quaffing is an integral part of the flap track replacement process.

But the skifast post was so vague that it is hard to tell with certainty.

Are you sure that you are not mistakenly calling a heater by the name "capacitor".

In case you need a third person to confirm that the king pin is supposed to be a non-removeable press fit in the top bracket, I'll be that guy.
I would not put it back together without fixing that issue.

Re: Main Tailwheel Leaf Spring Comparison
Isn't that spacer to bush the hole in the Scott 3200 bracket and spring adapter (not the tailspring)?
The spacer which goes in the hole at the front end of the spring, and ties the spring leaves together, should be a fairly close fit to the spring stack and to the bolt.

Re: Crankshaft Rust
A&P says (In connection with a Continental O200 top overhaul) the crankshaft has too much rust between engine housing and propeller (outside engine). I'm thinking the crankshaft diameter reduction and strength reduction from rust is less than 1% and irregular distributed over the length and dia...

Re: 75th Reunion Celebration group parking at Airventure 202
I’m just curious why we’re to display Vintage Aircraft CAMPING (VAC) …instead of VAP (Vintage Aircraft Parking)…. (EVEN IF we’re not Camping with our airplanes..??) or is this simply a more expedient way to get us all parked together as a group..? George, it is because the special C170 parking area...

Re: Help! "New" 170 with non-standard fuel caps
I don't know if the metallizing STC covered that change or not. But, I suspect that it actually is a better fuel cap arrangement than the original '48 C170, which is very prone to water leaks. I can see why some previous owner would have wanted to make a change. Of course, the seals and sealing surf...

#3 on the map list says Dayton, Colorado.
But the dot on the map sure looks like it is more likely to have been Dayton, Ohio!

Re: Ammeter
George, Gary and Gene, Thank you all for your information and suggestions. I will buy a new one, as I've owned the plane for over 2 years now and have always felt uneasy about the fact the current ammeter only goes to 30 amps with a Cessna 60 amp alternator. My memory of high school electronics doe...
