Re: Is this 49 original?
As a side note, looking at your aircraft records, it once had Metco-Aire tricycle gearg installed. In the ‘80’s it was returned to the taildragger configuration by a mechanic who, until a few years ago, worked at my home airport. [/quote] My aircraft is in annual so the mechanic has the records. But...

Re: Is this 49 original?
I greatly appreciate your reply. I feel a responsibility to at a minimum provide anything I can offer to the forum records. I just don’t know what to document. I think alot if not all the interior paint colors are correct at least in some spot. I was told previously that my panel was one of the most...

Is this 49 original?
Found this under my rear seat upholstery. Seems original. I have more pictures if this is significant. Will be taking my side panels apart and front seats eventually.

Re: Motor mount removal
Lots of info. on this subject buried in the vault, the search engine is your friend. Cracks in the rubber are not a problem as they are likely just surface cracks. Replacing them when the engine is overhauled makes the most sense. Lifting the engine out of the mount is the way to replace them if in...

Motor mount removal
The lord mounts (I guess that’s what you call them) used on my 0-300 all have cracks in the rubber. Mechanic looked very closely and said he’s not sure if they need to be replaced or not. His concern is replacements may again crack within months. What’s the best way to determine if they need to be r...

Re: 2 1/4" instruments on the stationary sub panel
I also used a hole saw to enlarge a 2-1/16" to 2-1/4". With a 2-1/4" hole saw, drill holes in 3/4" plywood, leaving the plugs in the saw cup. The Lenox brand hole saw I used made plugs of 2-1/16" OD, which fit neatly into the hole to be enlarged. When the plug extends beyon...

Carb heat freely slides open
My carb heat control slides on fast. Basically nothing holding it in place. It is so bad I have to fly holding it in! The notched or toothed metal part attached to the air box is so worn down, rounded over, so much that it doesn’t hold it in place. My mechanic wants to just put a McFarland control i...

I'm kinda zeroing in on that Canyon cream because my fuse panel looks like that color. I appreciate all the info and will keep working on it.
