Re: Dents forming in the wing from the sun
These dimples, or oil canning were all along the top of the leading edge, pretty much between each wing rib on both wings, the ones seen in the picture were the the biggest ones. last night at the hangar while looking things over it all feels tight and looks uniform. even the one pictured is gone an...

Re: Dents forming in the wing from the sun
Hey guys, I went to the hangar and took a few photos of the inside right at the wing strut. I also rolled the plane out in the sun for a while but I guess it wasn't hot enough, so nothing happened, no wrinkles. The plane is scheduled to go in for annual this coming week, I'll be sure to mention all ...

Re: Dents forming in the wing from the sun
Sorry, guys, I guess I didn't explain it very well. Maybe I shouldn't have said they were dents; they are more of a buckle in the wings. This only happens when the sun is heating the wings. I do not have a leading edge cuff; it is just a standard wing. It is obviously just from heat expansion. Once ...

Re: Dents forming in the wing from the sun
I installed them, my mechanic approved and signed off. I saw this happen once before with out the VG's installed but it was just in one spot and not that bad.

Oil canning forming in the wing from the sun
Hey guys, yesterday while fueling up my 1949 Cessna 170A out in the sun, I heard my wing making a popping noise. I stepped up on the tire and saw on top of the leading edge had several dents in it all the way across on both wings. Has anyone ever saw this happen before? I would think this has to be ...

Horizontal stabilizer
Does anyone know if there is an stc or mod to add weights to the elevator of a 170A like the 170B?

Re: Cowling Camloc
This is what I'm getting when I try to upload a picture. I tried resizing, it was smaller. Nothing seems to work.
The image must be at least 0 pixels wide, 0 pixels high and at most 2000 pixels wide and 2000 pixels high. The submitted image is 2188 pixels wide and 4000 pixels high.

Re: Cowling Camloc
Thanks, I tried to upload the pictures I have but the file was to large. I tried to reduce it and then it was the wrong size. Anyway, I ordered what I thought should work from Aircraft Spruce a -9 but it's to big. I'll have to send back and try for another size. The -9 had a diameter of .344 I need ...

Cowling Camloc
Hey guys, would anyone have the size info for Camloc screws for the cowling latches. I contacted Aircraft Sprue and they said I need to add up the total thickness. Just hoping someone already knows the size.
Thanks, Don
