Re: Oil Leaks....Where?...Oh, WHERE!

For your application I would suggest that you consider Permatex Ultra Copper, instead of number 2. It seals through oil. I would not use it on engine assembly but for your application I find that it is far Superior to the number 2. There is an Ultra Black also.

Re: crankshaft inspection/overhaul

Be for you send it out I would suggest that you do your own inspection on the flange. The crank weighs 50 lb so it will cost over a $100 in shipping out and back. If no inductions then send it out. NDE Dye Penetrant may save some cash

Re: Oil leaking some around push rod tubes

This is what can happen when the push rod and lifter do not get along. This engine ran for many hr in this condition. I did not find the broken parts of the lifter at tear down. The owner had oil inspections done at oil changes and did not see a thing. These engines just keep running and running.

Re: Accessory case oil leak

This works will for me. First remove any manifold gauges. Take the discharge of a vacuum cleaner and connect to the breather tube. You only want enough pressure to make soap bubbles, do not to put the full discharge pressure into the case. You want a small amount of pressure. Use soap in a stream an...

Re: BAS TAIL HANDLING HANDLES

Installing the pull handles was a good investment; I wish that I did it sooner.
Better for the plane and a lot easer on the pilot. Before installation talk to some one that has installed one. There are some steps that are not in the directions.

I am using the overhaul manual X30013 for C-145, O-300
I can not find the housing bore size on the crank end of the rod.
Have I missed some thing? What publication are the specs in?
Thanks In advance

Re: C-145 Crankshaft Question

How do you put a o-300d crankshaft in a c-145? Is there a STC, SB or any other way to do it?
thanks

Re: Performance Flowmatch Cylinders

Performance in any application may defined by power were you want it. 0-300 and c145 are limited by rpm, red line. Making ports bigger slows down the speed of the incoming charge and may not fill the cylinder as well as a stock port if the rpm does not increase.. Taking out any casting flash would b...

Re: Oil Pressure Bypass Spring and Plunger

Had much the same pressure issues. 2000 hr engine had not been apart in 25 years, lived it life on break in oil, owner was over 80 years old. Got a new spring it did not look like the old one. Used carb cleaner on valve, do not use an abrasive on it, inspect the valve seat. I used a reduced line tha...

Re: Blow by and compression

Compression or better know as a leak down test is a tool to find problems. An 80/80 does not mean that everything is fine. I have seen 80/80 and the top ring below the ring land, stuck. I have seen 78/80 and the top ring in 13 pieces. It does check the valve leakage well. Doing a leak down cold with...
