where to find interior foam insulation
I was thinking to strip the interior this winter and prime it. Looking for members who did this, can't decide on paint type/color and what foam insulation to use instead of the stock vinyl panels.

modifying 175 fuel tank pickups
Any basis out there for modifying the 175 fuel tank pickups to the same location as the 170, to decrease unusable fuel? My IA was going to sign it off with stating tank was modified to stock 170 tank location, but I can forsee some shops not being as agreeable to that. I would rather do it the right...

Re: 175 Wing Fuel Capacity on 170?
Alaskan9974, were you able to finalize your paperwork and call your wing-swap complete? I did the same swap back in 2014. Chris at Del Air in Porterville, Calif. was very helpful in obtaining a field approval for my project. Just to add some data to the discussion on unusable fuel, here are some nu...

Must not have been aligne...

Re: 175 Wing Fuel Capacity on 170?
Are there any modifications to the 175 tanks I can make to increase useable, or will later 172 LR tanks fit the 175 wings? My A&P is willing to write the field approval as needed.

elevator reskin and rudder bellcrank
I have my rear feathers off for strip and repaint, decided we will reskin one elevator. Is a jig required or can we do one skin at a time (LH) Also the rudder bellcrank pn 0433113 was worn through at the bottom attach point, I ordered one off of McFarlane however it has much less rivets then the ori...

Who makes plastic Wall panel replacements
Original wall panels under rear window and in the rear fusealage need replacement, also door panels. I see ABS door panels from plane plastics? But no interior panels to match.

any updates on wing X approval?
I remember reading a few years ago they were working on FAA approval for our birds. I am planning on doing VG's and sportsman on my wings. Have seen Wing X in the wild on different birds but I need to stay legal since its a set of 175 wings on a field approval.

Re: 175 Wing Fuel Capacity on 170?
So on paper it isn’t useable, but in real life it is accessible, say running one dry then switching to the other, or both?

Re: 170B door hinges
A couple of months ago I was on the verge of fabricating new hinge pins from a couple of stainless rods (I still had the temporary pins I made from brazing rods in the hinges, from our interior refresh a few years ago, and was getting worried about the softer brass starting to wear), but instead de...

175 Wing Fuel Capacity on 170?
Almost done with the repair and rebuild on my 175 wings, we are going to write the 337 and I see a few options on past 337s for the fuel capacity. Some use the 170 data and say 18 per side is usable, another one uses 175 data and says 21 per side is usable, the other one stated 24 per side is usable...

Later 172, like a 56. I found a 170b hinge at the salvage yard. The part where it curls over snapped off.

Re: 170B door hinges
Yes, a friend was taking off the door, he let go of the door with only the top pin in and where the pin goes bent open and the door fell.
Already have the old hinge off, was hoping to find one I guess it looks like the McFarlane one for $500 is the only option?

170B door hinges
Can I use later 172 door hinges on the 170B? My upper hinge is bent where the pin goes, I have a 172 hinge that matches the rivet pattern on the door but it is shorter then the 170 hinge. Wondering if we just need to replace the hinge on the frame or if we would have to replace the bottom one as well?

Re: Surefly mags
I have one on my bonanza, it makes hot starts very easy, and there is a slight performance increase, it runs much smoother above 10k feet and there is a noticeable difference when you go higher then that when watching the mag drops. I don't think it would make a difference on the way I fly the 170 t...
