Re: wingtip strobes
If you’ve yet to choose an ADS-B solution... the SkyBeacon and SkySensor from uAvionix includes wingtip LED navlights and “strobe” style anti-collision lighting incorporated into the product. If, however, you have the “piggyback” Nav lights and Whelen strobe combinations and want spare parts or to ...

Re: wingtip strobes
Aeroled Pulsar N series LED Are they a direct replacement? I know the Whelen 650's appear to be. I would like to keep the installation as original as possible but my mechanical grinder underneath the plane works, and there is no top side light. From reading the doc on other threads, I understand I ...

Re: Bartone Exhaust
I got the exhaust mocked up yesterday on the new engine. Fit is fabulous and instructions were excellent. Took a couple pics... More when it's completely in. These are of the new rear mount.

Re: Overhead Speaker
OK so you can run an 8 Ohm speaker on a tap for a 4 Ohm, but not necessarily the reverse. I was told the original was 8 Ohm, so that's what I requested at the reconing service.gahorn wrote: I seem to recall the same... I think 8 -Ohms was common and the OEM was 4 Ohms... but. I’ve slept since then.

8 Ohm I believe.ghostflyer wrote:Regarding the speaker, it’s my belief that the original had a strange impedance. I purchased mine off Tandy up in big bear ,California . They had a closing down sale and it was in a parts bin for a dollar. This was about 7 years ago.

Re: Overhead Speaker
Excellent discussion. I don’t want to loose sight of the make model of the speaker itself? Any pictures besides mine? Love to know if the Jensen is the official speaker? Historians out there?

Re: Overhead Speaker
I believe that the entire overhead assembly (speaker, housing, dome light, and twin red cabin lights) were removed at some point on my 55. Any reason to think it couldn't just stay that way for the foreseeable future? I don't really miss it it since my panel is well lighted, and I always wear a hea...

Re: Overhead Speaker
Jim, this speaker does match the pattern on the original aluminum “shield” as well, so I think it’s original. Those speakers were made in the early 50’s

Re: Overhead Speaker
Ok back to the speaker... what does a real one (speaker) that is like hens teeth according to Bruce, look like? I took mine out to have it reconed... hopefully they can do it. Based on the screws and holes and the evidence I think it’s the original speaker but I’m not sure. There were 2 #8 Phillips ...

Re: Bartone Exhaust
Didn’t realize you were in Texas. Gov. Witless, during his first presentation to warn everyone about CV-19 and to “stay safe”... first coughed directly into his hand...then used that hand to adjust the microphone on the desk. I don’t know if he knew the cameras were running or not... but it was cer...

Re: Bartone Exhaust
Cleaner appearance, less potential for CO2 in cabin, easier to put lower cowl on/ off. Not sure that’s enough to offset cost... Personally, it's the main reason I got mine and I think it is worth the cost almost for that alone. If our witless governor ever lets us out, I'll get a picture of new att...

Re: Bartone Exhaust
Can you talk through the advantages of this STC? Is is mainly for appearance? Doug, I had several reasons for purchasing the STC... 1) My exhaust tubes were shot, so these are a great replacement. 2) Exhaust is routed below the aircraft, reducing CO in the cockpit. 3) Better looking (IMHO I know Br...

Re: Bartone Exhaust
I do not know if anyone is aware that the exhaust STC has been purchased by Doug Mueller (canav8) and he went through approval for some engineering changes. I hope he'll get on here and chime in, mine arrived today, more on the unpacking later. I guess I am #1? Unboxing, very simple setup. Will post...
