I'm suprised there are only 3 in the Yukon, (4 over the weekend since I was there sat./sun. fishing) seems like there was one or two on floats down on Shwatka (sp.) Lake and I thought I saw one or two at the Airport there in Whitehorse. Gotta love that CanPass.

There's one out in McGrath, AK. From what I hear it flys pretty good. Eventually I'll get out there and meet the guy and check it out.

I would be a little concerned about using that tear drop clip the way it set up on that red tailed plane or the way it looks like it was set up on tshort's pics. My concern would be that those clips don’t always lay nice and flat together after slipping your chain or eye though it. I think you wan...

futr_alaskaflyer If you’re still looking for 170's here in AK (Fairbanks), my neighbor has one that is for sale it hasn't been advertised yet. It is a 52 B model, in annual, no paint, 180 gear, 8.50 rubber, bubble side windows, V-brace (I think around 2000 TTA and 1000 on the engine OH, these are ...

Bryan, try Jim at Northstar Aero (907)457-3151 at Chena Marina. A friend of mine flew with him in his own plane and was happy with him. I can ask around see if there is anyone else around.

I run Landes/Airglas 2500's on my 170 and I like them they plane up in deep powder really well, they might not turn as tight in powder as the shorter wider skis like aero 3000's. As far as tailwheel training on skis, if your flying with a CFI who comfortable in a 170 on skis, go for it, I'm sure the...

Anyone ever put L-19 Gear on a 170?

So has anyone done this or know anyone who has? I saw on anouther thread that some thought the L-19 gear was about 3 inches longer, that sounds even better than the 1 1/2 you get from the 180 legs. Looking at increaseing 80" prop clearance on skis and a little steeper take off angle. Does anone...

I use a little electric heater that has an adjustable thermostat and a timer switch. The heater is about a 5 inch cube fits under the cowl nicely. That for about 4 hour and a good engine cover does fine. When away from power I use a small propane catalytic heater (Coleman sport cat) put this inside ...

I believe that kit is the fork kit you get the wide fork big wheel and some hardware. The whole assembly is around $1720. If you spend a lot of time on gravel, I think you'd really like that tailwheel. It takes the shock and rattle out of the tail, and floats goods on sand and soft ground. Or at lea...

I have the sportsman kit with super drooper tips and the 80/42 prop. I have not had the opportunity to fly a stock 170B yet. But, my neighbor who has a stock 170B and is a CFI had flown mine during my last biannual and said it gets off a lot quicker? He has yet to put his skis on this winter, but wh...

Kenmore Air Harbor, Inc in Washington state has the STC for the McCauley 1A175-DM 8042 prop. I think it was around $100 a year or two ago.
