Re: 850-6 4 PLY AERO CLASSIC SMOOTH TUNDRA TUBE TYPE (AA4K5)

Is there a STC for these on a 170? Field approval? I’d like to try them on for size my self. I need to buy some tire so I’m thinking the 8.5-6.00 tundras or the legal 8.00-6.00 4 plys. Just shedded my wheel pants for summer. And she looks like a ape on a basketball.

Re: Oratex Fabric Covering Processs

I researched the Oratex after I bought a M5 Maule that needed recovered, restored and it was STCD for the Maule and numerous others. My wife talked me out of rebuilding the Maule and I traded it for My 170B. I think there was some articles on a Maule in their forum that was recovered. Plus's were it...

Dry tappit clearance

I had to replace a cylinder at annual due to a leaking exhuast valve. Replaced with a rebuilt millennium cylinder. They were out of new. Put it together and were unable to achieve the propper dry tappit clearance. A & P placed screw drivers between lifter and pushrods to bleed down the tappits b...

Re: Proper Landing gear axle attachment bolts

Really no shims. Seems to track straight. But again it’s new to me. I only have about 3 hrs in the 170.
What kind of toe in is desired?

Proper Landing gear axle attachment bolts

At annual I removed wheel fairings and back plates to install some 8.00 x 6 tires. Still to be determined brand of tire im going to as most of my flying is from asphalt with some grass strips included. But the thing I noticed most was the 5 washers on the back side of the lady legs (1953 B Model) at...

Re: Seat belt replacement

It has a center mount behind the head and im guessing attached to the wing center spar? Can't see for the head liner. A strap comes over both shoulders down to the center buckle. Does a good job of holding you in place, But forget about the flap handle.

Re: Scott 3200 steering arm

THX all. After searching and reading forum I found all of the tailwheelinfo i was looking for from previous post and threads. Great info for a new 170B Owner. Im amazed at how different it is from the 1946 140 rag wing I have. Its a preverbial KITE. My 140 loves wheel landings at 65-70 MPH and 1500 ...

The 1953 170B I have has 3 point over the shoulder restraint from am safe. But its impossible to reach the flap lever when you have them on. Can these be returned or modified to inertia real model. The price of a new set is 1400.00 +.

Scott 3200 steering arm

The Scott 3200 Tail wheel on the 1953 170 B I bought is in need of a rebuild. it currently has a straight steering arm on it. But the chains are tight against the springs enough where as they are slightly open. Im thinking if I go to the bent stearing arm the angle from the rudder arms to the bent s...
