Tripslip38, It has been mentioned here before that the majority of the association members do not, for one reason or another, frequent this site. But these same members can have a bearing on how this site is run by using their voting priveliges. The manner in which these participating members vote o...

Hey Richard, it would have been a real bummer to have been in IMC when you lost the vacuum pump, especially when the (assuming electric) turn coordinator wasn't online to assist. 8O
Sorry, I couldn't resist.
And yes the digital gauges are a nice addition,

Thanks everyone for your replies, and thank you George for consulting with your engineer son on the subject. It seems then that the wet snow would cause the most reason for concern, as well as the freeze\thaw cycles causing ice buildup. I'll just make sure to watch for these conditions and when need...

Snow load

Okay, were getting a fair amount of snow here in Edmonton, and since this is FDH's first winter outside (bummer  ) in quite a few years, I'm concerned about how much snow load on the wings is too much. I can't fly much right now and I'm wondering if I need to go to the airport and sweep the win...

Fifty something year old airplane, VERY sensitive to negative load factor (wouldn't take much push), answer: nope. Best to save the unusual attitudes for citabrias and decathlons, or better yet, a Pitts S2B 8) .

Nav Canada presently charges Canadian GA pilots an annual fee of $72+tax for the above mentioned services except for landing fees, which the applicable airport's operator would levy. Incidentally, my 170's home airport (CYXD) recently dropped their landing fees for aircraft equipped with six or fewe...

This discussion had been bugging me for awhile, as my scott 3200 (new in 2001)had five dampener springs installed, until I decided to do something about it. I recently removed my tailwheel for cleaning/adjusting and replaced the five old springs with three new ones. The very next time I taxied and f...

Hey MoonlightVFR, I know it's probably obvious, but did your mechanic reinstall the ELT after it's last recertification :?: :o . Just a thought.

Hi Lee, It seems that Alaskan Bushwheel has adopted the Scott 3200 tailwheel line and the replacement parts also, so just go to thier section on Spruce's site (Or Chief Aircraft Parts) and you'll find the 3214T steering arm part there. If you require a new steering arm and your wondering which one t...

Lee, Hopefully you don't find the problem that I'll describe, but check it out anyway when your tailwheel is disassembled. I had the same symptom that I think you have, where the steering arms moved independantly of the wheel (while the tailwheel is centered). It turned out that the steering arm ass...

I have the same P/N (531081) on the dipstick (0-300), and it reads about 1.5 quarts below the actual amount of sump oil. Doesn't bother me though as it was basically "calibrated" the first oil change that I did, and it's better than reading too high. But if you wanted to technically narrow...

Not sure about stateside, but an impaired driving conviction in Canada carries a criminal record along with it. But I do recall a person I know, taking a ski trip to Montana through a tour company by bus. When they reached the border, customs officials boarded the bus and asked for ID's from a few p...

Wow, Pure Adrenaline, I especially liked the two in formation. And the big scale B-29 was pretty cool too with it's rocket plane. Thanks Miles and John.
