Thanks Bruce! So it doesn’t mean the thick oil is holding the engine together...? Good news.

What weight oil?
I apologize in advance if this subject has been beat to death but my searches don’t seem to turn up specific answers. I’m looking at purchasing a 1955 170B with 800 hrs on the engine. Since at least 2006 from his records, the owner has been using 80W Aeroshell. I’m thinking “Geez...80 weight?” That’...

Pre-buy inspection
Can anyone recommend someone in the Kansas City, MO. area who could be trusted to do a good pre-buy or annual inspection on a 170B?

Thanks
Phil

O-300 with higher compression pistons
Hi all... Anyone on here know anything about putting higher compression pistons in an O-300 in a C170B? Is it “legal”. Does it create dependability issues? I’m looking at an aircraft to purchase that had it done about 100 hours ago. Not sure if it was “official” or bootleg. Thoughts? I just read on ...

Re: climb prop question (8042 1A175-DM propeller)
No one here has stated (it's really not so obvious) how to mount an 8-bolt prop to a 6-bolt hub?
