Looking at the November 2023 issue of "Flyings Aircraft for Sale" issue, looks like Garmin has GFC500 certification program in progress?

Re: CiES Digital Fuel Senders
My local A&P/IA couldn't get CIES senders to calibrate after CIES sent two different versions. We finally contacted Steve at Bend AC Mechanics 541-241-7371. Made an appointment, flew our 1952 170B from Colorado to Bend, Oregon. Steve put his crew on the installation, took about 6 hours total, $1...

Re: What did you buy for your 170 today?
Update on CIES fuel senders for my 1952 170B. "Bought a set of CIES fuel senders. They used longer arm than original so could reach through 4 inch extension tube to replace the mechanical gauge." However, when installed the longer arm hit a baffle in both right and left tanks. CIES is now ...

Re: Filing a Flight Plan
Filing seems fairly simple since I’m spoiled by using iFly GPS on my devices. To me it seems like the easiest to learn, just about the least expensive and operates on up to four devices for same price. Iphone, Ipad, laptop & desk computer. Can file on any. I put in flight plan route, hit the bri...

Re: Wondering what to expect
Seems like a lot of intercepts, tough on local flying. The aviation director of New Garden Township and manager at the Flying Field at New Garden Airport says his Chester County-based airport is just inside the no-fly zone and about five to six aviation intercepts have happened every time the presid...

Re: What did you buy for your 170 today?
The CIES senders were $830 for the pair, CiES Fuel senders do require a power wire for operation https://ciescorp.net/applications/small-aircraft/cessna If you go with Aero space gauge, the senders require the Aerospacelogic FL202D, senders will also hook up to other gauges. Bought my gauge a year a...

Re: Trio Autopilot Update
Received this email from Jeff Odum yesterday, for what its worth.
The Cessna 170 is still on our roadmap but it was removed from the website until we get our current projects completed.
Unfortunately the STC's are taking more time and resources than they had previously.

Re: What did you buy for your 170 today?
Bought a set of CIES fuel senders. Even though I had my original fuel gauges checked out a few years ago, still very inaccurate in flight. My fuel used counter very accurate, but didn’t know how much in the tanks until after landing. I think they just recently offered the four bolt attachment and lo...

Received an update from Jeff Odum today on signups for the Trio Pro Pilot Digital Autopilot:
Hello Bill,
It has increased to about 20 people. Once we clear our projects off the table we look to begin.
Post Osh Kosh most likely.

Trio Autopilot Update
To those few who would like A/P option, Jan said she would include the following info in the next flypaper. We are up to at least 11 signed up. The more who sign up, the sooner it could become an option. Jeff Odum added “Please note that we now have a few projects in pipeline we have committed to fi...

Re: FINALLY! ... A Cold Day in Hell.
Must be Global Warming…… by the way, natural gas prices rising extremely fast due to greater demand and some natural gas line components freezing limiting flow. Many windmills shut down due to the temperature and solar not efficient due to shorter days, snow on the panels and cloudy skies. I hear th...

Re: Autopilot, Trio Pro Pilot or Century 1
Bill,
We are exploring a "group buy" for the 170 models. There will be a sliding scale for how many people participate. $500-$1000 deposit would be required before the project begins.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thank you!
Jeffrey P. Odum
