Re: Dreaming of a 170...anyone in NY?
I met and flew with Atlas yesterday, and he will make an excellent 170 owner!

Atlas,
I'm based at 1B9 (SE Massachusetts), only about 120 miles from you. I've flown out your direction several times. Send me a private message and let's see if our schedules match up. I'd be happy to show you mine.

Re: Stall warning failure
https://www.radioshack.com/pages/search-results?search={q=piezo%20electric%20buzzers} (Sorry the link won't play nice) I can pull my receipts for the exact part number if you'd like. But I just went to the store with my housing in hand, and picked the unit that fit the best and had the correct volta...

Re: Stall warning failure
I recently replaced my buzzer with one approx 85dB. It seems slightly quieter than the original, however it's hard to judge because the new buzzer is also noticeably higher in pitch.

Re: Stall warning failure
Thanks George, I was able to fix mine and re-install it. With a foot of snow on the ground and another foot expected in the next 24 hrs, I'm happy to be getting something (anything) done this weekend. Suddenly all the Cessnas on the ramp have turned into tailwheels like mine. Christine, if you...

Re: Stall warning failure
Sorry to revive an old thread. Here are some photos of the inside of the stall warning instrument, for future reference. SM Horn 3.jpg SM Horn 2.jpg My horn stopped buzzing but the warning light still works properly. It appears the power wire leading into the buzzer component was touching the metal ...

Re: Building a glove compartment (box)
The new design really gets your attention when it falls into your lap. Now if only it would go buzz-buzz. The light goes on so I know the switch and wiring are good. Hopefully I can adjust the striker thing and be done with it.Bruce Fenstermacher wrote: (I feel a stall warning buzzer question coming any day now)

Re: Building a glove compartment (box)
Here is the full door and hinges. I'll have measurements and probably a 3D model later this week. Our incoming inspection team has a brand new laser scanner for inspecting parts and they are itching to put to use.

I don't have a side view of the clip handy right now.Bruce Fenstermacher wrote: Another part we need pictured is the spring clip that holds the door closed. Christine almost got a picture of it but her finger is blocking it. Christine you didn't happen to get a shot of the clip did you?

Re: Building a glove compartment (box)
I'll try to remove my door this weekend and verify measurements on the door and hinges. Assuming I can get it out without breaking it.

Re: Dumb Question- Windscreen
Cool, I'll just keep an eye on it and consider the connector to be something that needs to be replaced from time to time. My windshield doesn't leak so I'm not going to mess with a good thing.

Re: Dumb Question- Windscreen
Does the top of the center strap connect directly to the fuselage, on the outside of the airplane, or is there an intermediate connecting piece? The parts catalog seems to show an intermediate piece but it's hard to tell. Here's what mine looks like currently. IMG_20170122_010250.jpg I recently had ...

Re: Pre Heating
Ryan, I had the same thought when I was pre-flighting this week. If the water is sitting at the sump when it froze (and now we know, ice doesn't float), I wondered if I'd get any gas out of the sump. Sigh - I really just need a hangar! :| I rarely get water in the fuel in 56D, but when I was preflig...

Re: Pre Heating
Another cold related question:
I almost never find water when I sump my tanks, but what would happen to that water when the temps get well below freezing?
Does the water turn to ice? Does water ice float or sink in avgas? Does it have the ability to clog a fuel line?
