Re: Baby bushwheel on 8.5 mains?

A couple of threads in the past have mentioned the "glider tire" for the tailwheel - what is it? Any links to this "glider tire" - I'm 90% on grass, don't have a shimmy problem, but wouldn't mind a bit more 'flotation' as a lot of these FLA fields have some soft sand under the 'g...

Re: Any pics of Javelin tank as installed?

Years ago I wrote the following: “ In reviewing the posts about Javelin tanks it is apparent that quite a few members have them installed. Dairydr, Zreyn, Azpilot, Cfzxo, Jaime72, jon s. blocker, jatkins, sloPoke, to name a few have Javelin tanks. As a picture is worth a thousand words, any of you ...

Any pics of Javelin tank as installed?

I've got a complete Javelin kit and I've not put it in yet. I'm curious to see pics of it installed in an actual plane. Most of the pics I've found online are of the tank itself (usually accompanying a for sale ad). I've downloaded all the PDF and install drawings (they're terrible quality) and have...

Re: O-300 over sized cylinders

In the event you had purchased an aircraft with an undocumented piston mod and found out about it later what would be the corrective action. Do a top end overhaul with OEM pistons and log book entry since I presume machining of the C85 pistons/ installed Lycon/NFS pistons are not an approved STC. O...

Re: O-300 over sized cylinders

agreed. lycon NFS 9-1 pistons as ive been told  might just make that 20 plus HP. and that as ive been told is running on 87 octane real gasoline. was told that no timing needed to be changed and never any detonation. Cant remember who told me all this :D . and it all works with a sensenich gro...

Re: O-300 over sized cylinders

I had a conversation with a C170 owner who claimed he has over sized cylinders on his aircraft which gives an additional 10-15 horse power. Other forums have had general discussions about this topic and mentioned some Alaska folks have done this for a while. As previously mentioned, I strongly susp...

Re: Amateur Modifications

I'm with Falco on this. Phones are a much bigger concern to me than random wheels coming off. However, viewing the video, it is not clear that the truck in question was subjected to any radical amateur modifications. First of all, I'd suggest that given the culture today, most people haven't a clue ...

Re: Airworx 180HP O-300 STC

They’d have to take your engine with and without the polished ports with absolutely no other differences in atmosphere, temp, and dozens of other things exactly equal…to make that claim. Actually, most modern dynos correct to standard day conditions...so every run is apples to apples from an atmosp...

Re: DO NOT Slip with Full Flaps

I have done slips with full flaps. Intentionally even. The first one, however, was unintentional. I did when my plane was new to me and I was learning it. I generally try not to aggressively make control inputs, and as I gradually increased the control inputs to slip in an effort to correct a high a...

Re: SafeFlight AOA

Like most (if not all) of these GA-oriented AoA indicators, they are only truly useful for one flap configuration. It would be nice to have a true AoA system available that self-calibrated based on flap position. Still, calibrating for a single flap position can be useful, particularly for STOL-type...

Re: Lightspeed Delta Zulu

I've had Bose X forever. I buy used ones and fit the cords I need. Never had a cord problem. The earcups will eventually start flaking off, but replacements are relatively inexpensive (get OE Bose ones, not the cheap knock-offs). I now can't really fly without ANR. Once I went ANR more than a decade...

Re: Risk of Potential Adverse 5G Effects on Radio Altimeters

Reminds me of the FM Immunity nonsense interfering with ILS back around 2000 or so - not an issue here in the states where the FCC strictly controls bandwidth and power, but overseas it was an issue...problem was, it was announced back in 1979 and they had 20 years to do something...but didn't. Airl...
