Thank you for the fast reply, George. Agreed.
As far as “salvage”, perhaps I misunderstood what they said. I defer to your longstanding relationship with them.

Re: More Tailwheel Bracket Trouble
Reviving this thread because it looks like it's my turn to replace the spring retainer on my tailwheel assy. It appears that SK70A52-4 was installed on my 170A (s/n 20054) sometime in the past with the retainer that has the tang (p/n 0510000-31). As others have noted, this is where I found the crack...

Re: Tail wheel Tire / Tube
That’s the way I was leaning, George. Just for my own benefit and understanding... tube vs tubeless? Interchangeable using the same wheel halves, right?
As always... thanks for your help!

Re: Tail wheel Tire / Tube
I’m trying to figure out what tailwheel tire to replace my current tire with. Right now, it’s a tubeless Aero Classic 2.80/2.50-4 6 ply with sawtooth tread. I’m not able to find an exact replacement; the tire may be 15 years old. Is there any advantage to tube vs tubeless? How about tread type (ribb...

Re: ADS-B IN
ForeFlight just announced a trade-in offer for the Scout. Buy a Sentry or Sentry Mini from Sporty’s and get $100/$50 off if you trade in your Scout. https://www.sportys.com/media/pdf/ScoutTradeinForm_final.pdf The Sentry is $499; the Mini is $299. I haven’t compared prices elsewhere, but imagine the...

Had to look him up...
Not being from the Lone Star state though, haven’t heard of him. You’ve had a few good ones come from TX

Re: ADS B out
I agree George! I’ll have to get a couple pictures to show you. I rent space in a 50x50 with 2 Pitts and there just isn’t a good way to stack the airplanes that keeps me from having to move two airplanes, so right now I go over the top of one. Yikes.

Re: ADS B out
I did the Appareo Stratus ESG as well and have no complaints. A Pitts S-2 hangarmate has the uAvionix wingtip installation and I am always very cognizant of his wingtip and the additional clearance required to ensure I don’t somehow whack it off. Another friend with a Grumman Yankee has the Tail Bea...

I must be flying with some cheapo tubes! I have to add a few psi every few weeks! What tubes are you flying, George??!!gahorn wrote:(and I am unforgiving of cheap inner-tubes and air leaks, but 2 or 3 times a year it’s necessary to do it.)

Re: ADS-B IN (SCOUT)
I love the Scout, but I’ve been having the same issues. It seems to disconnect a few times each flight. I spoke to the ForeFlight peeps at Oshkosh and they suggested I send them a datalog file from the Scout when it disconnected. They could then troubleshoot the issue and maybe see what’s going on. ...

Re: Zeftronics Regulator Approval (sp)
The gentleman from Zeftronics told me the same thing back in February; that I would have to go about approval for the 20A regulator on my own. I never did follow up. Since then I’ve hemmed and hawed about putting in an alternator, but then that leads to a myriad of other mods that I just don’t have ...

Re: Who were your favorite passengerss?
If “Speedy” is also known as “Zip”, then yep that was his 170 - George and David Andre. Their hangar was down at the far end, I rent hangar space from George in his 2nd hangar. George turned 84 yesterday and celebrated with a flight in his Bucker Jungmann.
