Re: Whelen Strobe Issues
I did a bit of troubleshooting today and determined the left flasher is bad. It will flash a few times then ionize (glow), which stops everything. The right strobe will flash all day with the left one disconnected. I cleaned and checked all grounds, applied sufficient voltage, swapped output between...

Re: Whelen Strobe Issues
Guys, Thanks for the replies. I'll do some troubleshooting this weekend. I called Whelen tech support and the man recommended I send it in for repair, or buy a new LED system… but, if I’m inclined to troubleshoot, ensure a good ground and ensure greater than 12 VDC input. I have a DC power supply I ...

Whelen Strobe Issues
Guys, My Whelen strobe is giving me problems. I have a HDACF power supply with only wing tip strobes. When I turn it on it will flash 2 or 3 times then stop. Sometimes it will restart for a short time and sometimes not. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to troubleshoot this thing? Thanks, JP

Re: ADF Removal
Thanks for the feedback guys. I plan to attend a flap jack fly-in Saturday and the airport has an NDB so Ill test my ADF. Plus we have a clear channel AM station in New Orleans (WWL) which the fish spotters over the Gulf used for decades. ADF was popular with those guys because they flew to low for ...

Re: ADF Removal
Your marker beacon is the "O" "M" and "I" indicator lights on the left side of your audio panel. Press the "MKR" button on your audio panel and listen for the beeping next time you fly to an ILS-equipped runway. So I do have a marker beacon. Now I ques...

ADF Removal
Guys,
I plan to remove the ADF radio pictured below during the annual in October. Are both of these antenna on the belly associated with the ADF radio?
Thanks, JP

Re: My first Annual and Weight and Balance
Good for you Jason!
My first annual is in October and it will be owner assisted also. I'm glad you brought this up because I have an old NDB (or is it ADF) radio and antenna that should come out. It's the old radio that will receive AM stations. I'll talk to my mechanic about removing it...

Magneto Inspection
Looks like my mags are about due for the 500 hour inspection. Can anyone recommend a good shop for this service? Both are Bendix. My left mag is the newer one and it is a S6LSC-21, not sure about the right mag.
Thanks, JP
Thanks, JP

Re: New Oil Temp Gauge
The gauge is within specs so it's legal to use, but if you are a real OCD person... remember that MANY AIRCRAFT gauges have acceptable errors. The theory of flight is still only a theory. The act of flying.... is not a science... but an ART. Well said George! I went for a flight this afterno...

Re: New Oil Temp Gauge
I forgot to mention I found a piece of Baffel seal missing which I think contributes to my elevated oil temps. It's way up front on the leading edge of the "Baffel assembly - top crankcase". It's Item 72 on the image. It looks like a lot of air could be lost due to this missing seal. image...
