Re: Indicated Air Speed Error
In the manual stated above. Page 16-9. Figure 16-3. I've attempted to attach the page, but its too large. I re-bent mine to match after wing cover issues. I think it worked well.

Re: Is Your Heater Ready?
I haven't pushed the heater knob in for a few months it seems. I never thought the heater did much, but on Sunday, I went to close the defrost vent to re-direct air and burned my finger! I've been getting concerned about co lately and not trusting the co card. I ordered the sensorcon detector...

Fuel selector valve upgrade from A to B.
I have gathered the parts to upgrade my fuel valve to a B model valve. I noticed when I laid the parts out in the belly that the lower elevator cable sits on the valve when the left tank is selected. Note that this is still the case after modifying the center stringer to match the b model so that th...

Re: Bent bell crank
I will look for some sash chain. Man, I like the looks of those shackles. Here's a picture of the tailwheel end of the chains.

Re: Fuel Selector Valve
I need to figure out a new fuel valve as well. My last IA tried to fix it and told me never use it or it will leak again.

Re: Bent bell crank
Thanks for the info Bruce. I think the cable slack is just an illusion due to the bent bell crank forcing it up. One thing that I failed to mention is that it was bent much worse than this just minutes earlier. There was an older fella fueling up his plane next to me. I asked him his opinion of the ...

Bent bell crank
This morning I noticed my bell crank was bent more than usual. It has been bent a little since I got the bird. I flew yesterday. This morning when I was doing my preflight, I noticed it was bent more than ever. Where the cable attaches to the left side of the bell crank is binding. The other side is...

Re: Why I fly
Jared, just curious, does your glasses have prisms? I found that my eyes didn't focus at distance and needed prisms. Sometimes we don't understand physical problems but if the DR's dig deep enough, problems can be found. John No prisms. The ladies at our health fairs from the Lyons told me for year...

Re: Why I fly
I used to get sick every time up. I started training and stopped many times over the span of 11 years. Still got sick. Last year for a different issue, the wife talked me into getting glasses. I always said I didn't need them because I have 20-25 vision in one eye and 20-20 in the other. The motion ...

New owner of 170A in AK
I'm the new owner of a 1950 170A N5786C. It has 180 gear legs, 8.50x6 tires and a Masa stol kit. Ive been working on my private certificate on and off for many years and finally decided I needed to buy a plane and finish. All of the info here has been very helpfull. Thanks also to Richard P. for wis...

Re: Aging aircraft inspection
Who does XRay inspections on the East coast and how much does it cost?? Pipers have the 5 year wing stut AD due to the wings folding in a couple of incidents.. When looking at one, the seller said he pays $500 every 5 years to have an X-ray performed. That sounded too cheap compared to what it invo...
