Re: Fuel Selector Valve

I had somewhat of the same problem. I took top off value found it to be a little warped, put piece of sandpaper on top of flat car window and sanded top flat again. this stopped the leak, but i went to wreaking yard and found one reasonable, and installed it. short wrenches seem to help to get it in...

Re: Best Three Mods

for my type of flying, the 360 engine and mods, 180 gear legs, 26" tires with cleveland brakes. along with these three STOL kit, double landing lights, p-pong, gap fillers, different tail, seats, weight removal. Hope this helps, seems to be alot of good advice. Happy Flying.

Re: I need some tire guidance.

Justine, the tire pressure that I have been using is 12 lbs. I have landed on grassy flats, along the river, on grassy semi rocky hill tops, semi sandy soil, and only pavement when I need fuel. this pressure seems about right for what I do so far. Pavement, the tires seem a little sticky, and in my ...

Re: I need some tire guidance.

I just went through the process of getting the required approval for goodyear 26" tires on my 170B. was not that bad. the FAA guy here in Mt. was great. The only thing I do not like about said tire, is they seem to skid more easily on wet grass, and shallow snow. If you need any of the paper wo...

this is still very interesting to me. I am still looking for any proven mod to shorten takeoff distance. the good year tires are great, opens more landings spots for sure.

Re: STC, 337s for cessna 170

Doug, thank you for your input. Sounds like good advice. Today was first time flying with the 26" goodyears. I did not notice the side to side movement that I thought I would. But braking was noticeably different, more pressure to stop, turn. Also on wet grass seemed to slide more easy. made la...

Re: STC, 337s for cessna 170

FredMa, Thanks for the info, I will try to take picture of her tomorrow, and try to post it. The strip I keep my plane at is on the res about 5 miles from my house. I land in the farmers field across the gravel road next to my house a lot. I also have been landing a lot of other off airport spots, u...

Re: STC, 337s for cessna 170

Fredma, I have Cleveland double puck brakes, and I will try to send some pictures, if I can figure it out. Last time someone else was kind enough to help me with that. What I have noticed is how much the plane moves side to side while stationary. Side walls flex a lot in my opinion. That is one thin...

Re: STC, 337s for cessna 170

My plane now has the goodyear 26" tires installed. It has not been that bad getting the approval. I hope to fly soon, needs to dry out some before that can happen. Does any one that has these tires on their plane able to give me advice, such as braking distance, sideways movement, etc. Thank Yo...

Re: 31" bush tires on cessna 170b

dunlaps3, Thanks for you input. I really enjoy hearing from people that have some of the mods. I have or am thinking about getting. I hope I can upgrade to the bigger tires once I see how I do with the 26''. You mentioned that you use the bigger tires in the snow correct? If you have some time would...

Re: 31" bush tires on cessna 170b

blueldr, I hope this answers any questions you may have. I live on the Flathead Indian Reservation, in north western Montana. I am a member of The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. The area varies from 12000 ft. mountains to around 2500 ft. valley floors. One major fresh water lake 28 miles l...
