Re: Prop Survey

It is great to hear all the great responses and excitement of C-170 fly-ins in the PNW. One of the things I miss about being back in Texas was the monthly -170 Fly-ins. It has been my plan to put together a distribution list from the membership guide and start to organize monthly fly-ins around Was...

Re: Serrated Brake Cylinder Rods

Bruce, It is possible that I am over servicing them. They may leak when first serviced and then it takes awhile to run to the drain holes in the belly. There is fluid on the serrations of the rod, indicating a leak from there. I have been filling to about a 1/4 of an inch below the bottom of the fil...

Re: Brake master cylinder

I talked with the tech rep from Cleveland this morning. The installation of any Cleveland master cylinder will require a field approval.

Does any one have a copy of a field approval for Cleveland 10-35 master cylinders they would be willing to share a copy of?

Re: Brake master cylinder

I acquired a nice set of Cleveland 10-35 cylinders at a good price. But I am having trouble finding approval for installation. I am still waiting for a call back from the tech rep at Cleveland, I talked to some one who was covering for him and he did not know of an approval for installation on the 1...

Re: Serrated Brake Cylinder Rods

Is there a rebuild kit available for the serrated rod cylinders? Mine leak. I fill them and they leak static, sitting in the hanger not being used. After making a mess on the hanger floor they find a happy place and stop leaking. I am not sure how they leak if all the holes are in the top? I acquire...

Re: Brake master cylinder

I am in the process of replacing my master cylinders from the old style with the serated rod to Cleveland 10-35. I have STC SA13GL and can find no reference to master cylinders. My mechanic need some paper work. Could someone point me in the right direction for the paperwork approval.

Thanks,
Ken

Re: Crossing the Salt Lake City Bravo air space VFR

The I80 VFR transition is no big deal. Follow the high way at 7500 feet east bound, contact approach and request the I80 transition. You will get a class B clearance and fly right over SLC. It is usually easy to cross class B airports perpendicular to the runways at 3000 feet AGL. Give it a try.

Here are the 8.50-6 4 ply tires I have been looking for. And a good price! I'm curious to hear the thoughts from this group on running these tires on a 170.

Re: Prop Strike

My red line is marked a 60 psi. I got my normal operating range from the 170 owners manual, 30-40 psi, and it coincides with the green arc on the gage. 60 is within limits so I will not worry about it. Now we just need to get the alternator online. My mechanic and I will be trouble shooting on it to...

Re: Prop Strike

The engine is in and runs great! I flew it for an hour at full throttle yesterday afternoon to start breaking it in. I am very happy with the power output and not a drop of oil leaking. :) There are a couple of issues I could use some advice on. The oil pressure ran right at the red line for the ent...

Re: Prop Strike

Well I will make sure the engine is better supported next time it needs to be lifted. 8O Sounds best to leave the firewall alone and just clean up the old gunk. It sound be flying tomorrow afternoon. Fingers crossed there will be no more delays.

Re: Prop Strike

My engine arrived from the overhaul shop yesterday. After numerous delays. It looks great! It looks so good it should make an extra 100hp. IMG_1059.JPG IMG_1061.JPG IMG_1063.JPG I added a lightweight push button starter to the overhaul. I am planning to put the start button in the hole where t...
