Re: Low RPM's during run up/take off

All, Went up today, again right at gross, DA about -1900. Takeoff rpm 2100, slowly climbing on take off roll, around 1000' just hitting 40mph. Aborted takeoff followed by 2 high speed taxis. Well I suppose next step is to pull the prop and check the pitch. Suggestion was to also see if the brakes we...

Re: Low RPM's during run up/take off

Richard,

Really appreciate the data. Makes me a bit less concerned, but still need to get back up and fly 26D and see where she sits. Everything is pointing to normal, just lower compressions due to sitting. When I get back up I'll post some numbers as well.

Thank you again.

Re: Low RPM's during run up/take off

Gahorn, That's good to hear, I heard good things about it being a smooth running engine. Like I said first I heard of the O300D being called 'doggy'. I figured due to it sitting for a bit, is the most probable cause of the lack of HP, plus I need to double check the pitch of he prop. Being at gross ...

Re: Low RPM's during run up/take off

Nope, used a digital Tach and both were very close This is just a pet peeve from an old retired instrumentation engineer, but the tach being digital doesn't necessarily make it accurate; precise maybe, but not accurate. If it's optical, check it against a fluorescent light, which should read 3600 R...

Re: Low RPM's during run up/take off

What I could find for the EM 76/53 was a max static RPM of 2360.

Consensus is to get up and fly and run the engine.

Re: Low RPM's during run up/take off

Aryana,

Thank you for the Data point. I figured it should be around that setting as well.

Re: Low RPM's during run up/take off

Bruce, I do not know if it is exactly 53" prop, just going off the prop log book. It has sat since March, and consensus is after going through the engine, is to run 'hard' per se, and oil change, and see where we sit. Some mentioned the O300D being a "doggy" engine, 1st I heard of tha...

Low RPM's during run up/take off

Question for the group: O 300D, EM 76/53 prop, SL about 40° F, at gross weight. Static run up 2175ish, high speed taxi's (was at full throttle), getting up around 2200, but not much over. Wasn't paying attention to the ASI. Mech looking at it, compressions are OK not great. Lower 70's/upper 60's. Ha...

Re: Model Number for Cleveland Dbl Puck Brakes

Thanks for the info!

From the ad:

"Cleveland Double Puck Aircraft Brakes with backing plates. Pads in great shape and new o-rings. Model # 30-52N $450 for the pair".

Currently have 8.50x6's, someday like to upgrade to 26's, not sure if these were worth picking up.

Thanks.

Model Number for Cleveland Dbl Puck Brakes

Hopefully this is in the correct area,

Just saw a set of Cleveland Double Puck Brakes for sale, is there a specific model number to fit on a '56 C170B?

Thanks

It's official, new 170 owner :-)

Well got the keys, just waiting for the FAA paper work side of things! Couldn't be more excited! Still a member of the 150-152 club. Excited to learn the new bird, need to get with a CFI to meet insurance needs. Just wanted to say thanks for the collective knowledge of this forum and looking forward...

Richard,

Appreciate the information, that's what I kind of figured. Making my list, as I should be a new 170 owner soon :-).

Thanks
