source for 1A175DM804X?
Hi. I was looking to upgrade my prop using the Kenmore STC, but the several distributors I called (Air Power, Yinling) say they don't stock them and McCauley is quoting them an 8 week lead time to get one. I was kind of hoping to put it on next week. If anyone has any suggestions as to where to buy ...

wing x 337
Hi. I was wondering whether anyone has gotten field approval for the Wing X extensions on their 170?

Here's a story about the Vernon folks, just out in Flight Training magazine.

engine detuning at low rpm
The instructor that taught me to fly my 170B told me not to run the engine at low rpm (like below 2300) because it could detune the engine. Having crop dusted much of his life, flown just about everything, heard most stories, and proven himself right on a lot of things that seemed strange to me, I h...

Re: Best angle of climb
Thanks Karl, that's useful info. What I'm really after though is that calculation (or lookup) for the actual angle of climb at those speeds, like in degrees. For example, if you wanted to look on a map and see if you could outclimb terrain. I guess all that's needed in addition to your calculation i...

Re: Best angle of climb
Does anyone know the actual angle at the best angle of climb speed? And how this might vary with altitude?

Re: lakevue or atlee folding seats?
Thanks for the info. In the meantime I learned of a 4th option, which is to install original cessna jump seats (that I think come out of a 185). They apparently fit into the bench attachment points and require little if any installation hardware. They dont fold, but remove easily, and are lighter. I...

lakevue or atlee folding seats?
I recently bought my first 170B and have been going through the forum thinking about the recommended modifications. High on my list is to replace the bench seat. From reading the forum, it seems there are 3 main options -- the bas/lakevue stc, the atlee dodge stc, and a 337 for 206 seats. My prefere...

Re: new 170B owner saying hi
Thanks Frank. Yes, I will join but havent yet. I'm in Fairbanks, the plane is still in Texas, I plan to fly it back up next month after another week or two of 'cropdusting' experience. Vernon TX (F05) is the place, and I cant recommend it highly enough for flight training. The husband, wife, daughte...

new 170B owner saying hi
Hi all. I just bought a 1954 170B about a month ago and wanted to say hi and thanks to all for the useful information on this forum. It's a fairly unmodified plane with O300. I learned to fly it from an old cropduster in Texas. Or should say that (after 60 hours getting my private pilot license in c...
